Have you stopped beating your wife yet?

So, out of left-field, a Fox-news watching software engineer I work with says: “Can I ask you a political question? How do you feel about the money the US gives to the UN being used to support terrorists?”

I think what he heard was that the UN supports refugee camps in Palestine and Syria, and so ipso facto, the UN supports terrorists. Honestly, I don’t know what really gave him that idea. I don’t listen to Rush or Fox.

Isn’t it sublime? Isn’t breathtaking? The 30 percenters are fine with Iraq (“fight ’em there so we don’t have to fight ’em here…”), and simply don’t care about the cost in lives or treasure, or the insane corruption (Found that $8 billion yet?).

But hard won tax money supporting the “terrorists,” well, it’s enough to shake one’s faith in government. As best as I can tell, the US is on the hook for about $1.7 billion annually, though there seem to be other substantial donations through other programs. $200 billion a year and untold misery: fine. $1.7 billion a year to support refugee relief and peacekeeping missions: bad.

No matter how bad things get with the Incompetent in Chief, the Kool-Aid drinkers will always have ready-made lifelines. When faced with the cognitive dissonance of failure upon failure they will attack: Pelosi, Gore, Hitlary, Clenis, UN, the French, Pelosi again, Kennedy, gays. Rinse. Repeat.
