Health care defeatist of the day

Our biggest obstacle in the struggle for single payer are the members of our coalition who are willing to give up before they even try.

Booman

Another way of putting this is that Barack Obama would prefer a single-payer system but that it is politically impossible to get it done at the moment and he isn't going to let people go without health insurance just because health coverage is a theoretically better solution.

Right now today, John Conyers has a piece of legislation that has 90 cosponsors. We just have to find an additional 128 supporters in the House of Representatives and we can pass this.

It has been endorsed by dozens of organizations from every region of the country and every sector of society.

Who knows more about what is politically practical, John Conyers, Chair of the Judiciary Committee, or bloggers? I mean really.

Some people are so psychologically invested in Obama they want to justify his every flaw. Insist in HR 676, Medicare for All, accept no subsitutes!

Surprise, Surprise

Can't seem to find Rahm's or Hoyer's name on that list of cosponsors.

Teh doublethink! It burns!

I thought that Obama was about "change" and above all "transformation"?

So it's a little surprising, or not, to hear the now suddenly worldly-wise, careworn Obama Fan Boo sighing about what's "politically possible...."

[x] Very tepidly voting for Obama [ ] ?????. [ ] Any mullah-sucking billionaire-teabagging torture-loving pus-encrusted spawn of Cthulhu, bless his (R) heart.

Transformational

Remember when the justification for Obama put forth by Singer (at MyDD) and Drum and many others was that he would bring about the most change, none of the incremental crap? He would win so overwhelmingly and have such a mandate that he would solve all the world's problems-iall of them.

How quick we forget. Are there are enough "tepids" [cough] out there for Obama to win and take us backward?

Only tyrants rig elections.

Right now, I trust Russ

Feingold on what's politically possible and still speaking on what's right (on FISA.) Why can't Obama keep his promises? Couldn't Obama make a video on political realities the way Feingold spoke on the video he made on FISA?

Trust struggling Obama fans, who can't believe they were lied to, above and below the usual political spin? Sorry.

"Our biggest obstacle in the struggle for single payer are the members of our coalition who are willing to give up before they even try" is quite right.

Good reading! Favorite quote: What could go wrong?
Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.
