Hello Chauncy Tuesday!

Chauncy visited the wetlands in Huntington Beach yesterday, after earlier saying hi to many, many elderly in a convalescent home in Los Alamitos.

Some folks are wonderin' why they was born
They ain't never been swimmin' with a dog in the morning
Hey Packy, I'm comin' back again

From the song "Hey Packy"
Written by George Gerdes and sung by Loudon Wainwright III on his 1976 album "T-Shirt."

Good dog.

Chauncy is not merely "good" in that he obeys...

... but he is a morally good dog.

That's why Jane Goodall like him...

That puts Chauncey at minimum one step up from

no, no, shame on me. Bad Xan. It is improper to speak ill of the dead. And probably just as improper to laugh when, I hear a major TV "news" network is so confused as to link to parody sites after such a demise.

It would, wouldn't it, be evil to use such an occasion to laugh at remembering an episode of Alan Sorkin's old show Sports Night on which a character commented about a particular person--who was not, it should be remembered, dead at the time this episode aired--

CASEY: What are you afraid of?
DANA: Offending people.
CASEY: Who? Our legions of viewers who take Jerry Falwell seriously? Charo's got a bigger fan base.
DANA: Casey!
CASEY: No, I know I'm alone on this. I know the vast majority of people consider Jerry Falwell a spiritual pillar of great and gentle wisdom. I know that most people consider him a scholarly and tolerant man who would never judge others harshly just because they were different. I know that most people find his calm leadership to be a gentle soothing beacon at a time of great social chaos. His guidance, for instance, on the great purple Teletubby matter was fraught with the kind of theological sophistication that only Jerry Falwell and a cafeteria full of sixth graders could devise. I know, I'm going way out on a limb, but I think Jerry Falwell's a fat-ass. Who did I just offend? I'm eager to talk to them.

(h/t to doncjesus for the quote; he alas did not give a link)

All those things would be wrong, so I shall not do them lest I go to hell and have to see Falwell again.

The God(s) of Your Choice, If Any, it is said...

... answer all prayers.

But sometimes the answer is a resounding "No!"
