His shirt was genuinely wrinkled...

…and she was holding an iron. That’s the only conclusion I can draw from this headline:

“Clinton responds to seemingly sexist shouts”

Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign stop was interrupted Monday when two men stood in the crowd and began screaming, “Iron my shirt!” during one of her final appearances before the New Hampshire primary.

Clinton, a former first lady running to become the nation’s first female president, laughed at the seemingly sexist protest that suggested a woman’s place is doing the laundry and not running the country.

Yes… That suggestion does seem awfully sexist… [strokes chin thoughtfully]

seeming[2,adjective]

Main Entry: seeming
Function: adjective
Date: circa 1557

: outwardly or superficially evident but not true or real

Good thing we know it’s not really sexist, because… well, it’s never explained. (Maybe the answer is hidden in this here bucket?) Hillary handled the situation with aplomb, but then the remaining two-thirds of the article are dedicated to - surprise! - a gratuitous trip to Hillary’s Waterpark, Now With Less Cackle!

Anyway, here’s what I’m wondering. If somebody shouts “Cram your Bible up your ass, you stupid shit! Fuck you and the dinosaur you and Jesus rode in on!” at Mike Huckabee, would that be billed as “seemingly anti-Christian speech?” There’s only one way to find out, folks…

Ah, now I get it

Reading through the comments, this seems to be some sort of dog-whistle to the wingnuts, who have begun to claim that it was staged. Your liberal media at work.

But I still believe
And I will rise up with fists!!

it's like the "crying scandal"

if she cries, she’s weak and soft and unfit to lead don’t kick me, lambert, if she is tough and strong she’s a ball buster, dyke, unfeeling bitch. the poor woman just can’t win.

i’m sorry i can’t support her because of the differences in our views. but i’m glad that here and around the blogosphere, we’ve been quick to slap down sexism in coverage of her campaign. that makes me proud.

Rumblings are it was a shock-jock stunt

for some local radio station wanting attention and, most likely, with t-shirts for sale. Exploiting exploitation, creative in a way but not actually effective since the shockjocks are still unrecognized. At 3AM under the influence it must of seemed like a great idea.

Gloria Steinem has some quality thoughts on sexism and Clinton in today’s NYT, here.

Fuck, that's funny!

Majorly LOL!

Shock Jocks - maybe right wing talk radio wannabees

Same reporting here. For what it’s worth, the Conway, NH polling place is packed with people, in the middle of the afternoon. The final votes will take a while to cast and count because the line will still be long at 7:00. Whatever else is happening in the end of NH that is supposed to still be rock ribbed Republican territory, the turnout is quite large. It can’t be good for Romney
