Linky
The link comes back with "The Blogger You are Looking for is not found."
Other than that, can't you feel the Unity
!
Bill Clinton for First Dude!!!
Corrected link
I was too impatient for lambert to fix the link. He added a "Just " in between the "politics" part of the link.
Why am I
not surprised?
Why didn't they just hire Ann Coulter? That's her basic schtick isn't it?
They didn't really believe she was supporting Hillary, did they?
Don't step in the Unity

Don't step in the unity......
that is a good one!!
Why the fervent Clinton hatred, using RW talking points no less? It's gotta be linked to the Obama id--if she hurts the person we identify with, then she hurts me. But the Hillary bashing talking points have to be coming from the campaign-because alot of the people using them are too young to have been steeped in this bs.
If he is the nominee, I wonder what tactics will be used against McCain? If they 'don't have Hillary to kick around anymore' (shades of Nixon), then will left-wing talking points (not as effective and not as deeply ingrained) be used.
Another thing, I know the econ. class divide is pretty well documented, but every person I know that is a Hillary supporter is degreed and reasonably well off-not a good sample obviously-just my mini-rant.
Reminds me of a student I had the first year that I taught--in a mostly AA public HS. This student always came in late, interrupting class, and threw his arms wide, saying "my people." I couldn't help laughing at him, and couldn't stay mad either.
Hillary's appeal to the working class reminds me of that student--to me, they are the 'my people' of the Democratic Party.
kc
I hate to do this but...
I really don't think the Randi Rhodes "comedy skit" was an event planned by an Obama surrogate. Anyone can sign up on either Hillary or Barack's webpage and announce events. It looks to me that the radio station GREEN 960 planned the event and Douglas Sabo just linked to it. "NOTE: GREEN 960'S WEBSITE SAYS THE EVENT IS SOLD OUT. PERHAPS THERE WILL BE NO-SHOWs AT THE DOOR, BUT FYI SO NO ONE IS DISAPPOINTED. I DO NOT CONTROL TICKETS FOR THIS EVENT. THIS IS GREEN 960'S EVENT."
He did attempt to get other supporters of Obama to attend en masse.
"Come join other Bay Area Obama supporters for an evening with Air America host Randi Rhodes!"
Associated Groups: NorCal LGBT for Obama, San Francisco for Obama, The Castro for Obama, Young Bay Area Professionals for Barack Obama
So, while I believe the night with Rhodes wasn't officially planned by the Obama folks, Sabo knew what they were going to get from her that evening "(this week Randi Rhodes has been on fire with her passion for Obama (and disappointment/anger with his opponent)", and he knew his supporters would enjoy the evening of Unity
.
It would be the laughing and clapping and cheering....
... by ______ for Obama, ______ for Obama, ______ Obama, ______ for Barack Obama as Rhodes called Hillary a whore that concerns me.
I don't think the Obama campaign officially organized this, for the good and sufficient reason that they did not have to. The organizer isn't part of the campaign.
However, given the honor roll of Obama organizations at the show, it would be interesting to find out who was there, and what they thought of it.

Yes
They definately had a Unity
party that night. Lots of cheering on.
happened to my Democratic Party?
I'd like to know WTF
Wasabi: WTF happened to our party?
Scary, ain't it? We're Democrats, and we're supposed to be for diversity and freedom of speech.
The most disturbing thing I've seen this year is the intra-party hatred. I thought all the haters bailed out after the Civil Rights Movement.
The stench of right-wing meme has penetrated one candidate's campaign. Seeing and hearing recycled CDS talking points coming from alleged liberals and progressives is sickening.
Melissa McEwan nailed it: "Thing is, Randi Rhodes has never been progressive, except insomuch as people who hate George Bush are considered de facto "progressives" by other fauxgressives who don't give a damn about social progress.
Fauxgressives. I like that word.

a sign of political implosion
What is happening in the Democratic party right now just seems to me another sign of the continuing implosion of America's once vibrant political culture. I feel so helpless, I have no idea of what to do.
I know how you feel, DCB
but I think bringiton makes a good point on "reusing to yield to a politic of despair.
