Holiday in Waziristan

The Pakistani army announces it will not go after Osama, as long as he remains a mellow dude.

If he is in Pakistan, bin Laden "would not be taken into custody," Major General Shaukat Sultan Khan told ABC News in a telephone interview, "as long as one is being like a peaceful citizen."

Pakistan is also declaring the border area with Afghanistan a permanent party zone:

In addition to the pullout of Pakistani troops, the "peace agreement" between Pakistan and the Taliban also provides for the Pakistani army to return captured Taliban weapons and prisoners.

Schweet. For more on why this subcontinental military dictatorship has the Almighty US of A over a barrel, check out "Ghost Wars, the secret history of the CIA, Afghanistan, and bin Laden, from the Soviet invasion to September 10, 2001" by Steve Coll. It's fast paced and fact-based, even though WAY too easy on the US' blunders.

It all started when, in order to fight the dreaded Russkies, the US agreed to let the Pakistani intelligence (ISI) control virtually all of our military and financial aid to the Afghan Mujahideeen. It worked as far as kicking Boris out of Afghanistan, but in the meantime we built a massive Pakistani military infrastructure, turning a blind eye to the fact that the ISI was (is) full of Islamic fundamentalists.
