UPDATE Lambert adds:
Mother's Day was originally started after the Civil War, as a protest to the carnage of that war, by women who had lost their sons. Here is the original Mother's Day Proclamation from 1870, followed by a bit of history (or should I say "herstory"):
The proclamation is from Julia Ward Howe:
Say firmly: "We will not have great questions decided by irrelevant agencies. Our husbands shall not come to us, reeking with carnage, for caresses and applause [#57]. Our sons shall not betaken from us to unlearn all that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy and patience.
Fascinating history, untaught and "dislearnt," as we might say.

means whereby the great human family can live in peace ...
YES, YES, YES. A feminine paradigm shift to partnership and cooperation from the power and control obsessed patriarchal one.
Ann Jones, journalist, long time pushing for Afghanistan to have half members at final treaty table be female. USA has the power and bucks to enforce this, too, but why would they? Patriarchal authorities of the US are military-hypermasculinized and don't know the path to peace, only tool they are used to being the HAMMER. The higher percentage of women would add to the chances of having a lasting intelligent peace architecture not the jackyl fight which will result in future warring. Yeah, I know Palin, et al. just cuz female not necessarily for peace ... but having half at table female ... why not try it. How many will end up at the table who are female? I'm thinking maybe none without anyone pushing for this.
To God's and humanity's ears.
