SEIU Now and Then: May Democracy Be With You
The internal struggle and accelerating debate within the SEIU over union democracy is a positive and encouraging development. While democracy, dissent and member empowerment are on the horizon in SEIU and even in vogue in West Coast locals, it wasn't always so. A reform movement and the uprising of Public Employees for a democratic Union within the former L790 serves as a case study.
Rob Russell for Tennessee’s 1st District
I will be focused on my legislative priorities and will work to either craft or co-sponsor legislation to reach those goals. My legislative priorities are:
1) Healthcare Reform: Guaranteeing quality, affordable healthcare options for all Americans. A single-payer plan, like the one proposed by HR 676 (which is supported by many doctors, healthcare administrators, and labor leaders), would certainly be an efficient, simple, and fair means of providing universal coverage for all Americans.

Why does he have to run in the 1st!?
:( Seriously, the GOP has held the 1st District (my home town included) since 1881! It's arguably the most GOP controlled district in the entire nation. Sigh. Zach Wamp is a powerhouse in the 3rd but I believe the 3rd can be turned blue but the 1st?!
PB 2.0 - Supplement the wonk!
because that is where he lives
that is why he is running in the first.
lol
...yeah I know that but I'd give him my permanent address to use if he'd run in the 3rd. Or he could just hop over the line... The 1st is just a fortress of GOP power to put it lightly, whereas his John Edwardsian platform would do very well here in the 3rd which has both GOP and DEM outposts.
