I just had a rivalgasm! Was it good for you, too?

Every time Obama takes even more counsel from wingnuts, don't you feel the earth move in the scintillating "Team of Rivals" way that's got the Village all a-twitter?

Ooh, ahhh, just a little more to the right. OOOOOHHHH! YES! YES! YES!

...Obama said he has found inspiration in a "prayer circle" of supportive clergy leaders.

Pastors on that regular prayer phone call toward the end of the campaign included T.D. Jakes, of the Dallas-based mega-church The Potter's House, Saddleback mega-church pastor Rick Warren and Joseph Lowery of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

Could he have a better spiritual guide than Rick Warren?

In 2004, on the eve of the presidential election, Warren e-mailed several hundred thousand pastors boldly hawking his conservative religious values as a litmus test for candidates. The choice between Democrat John Kerry and Republican George W. Bush, he said, should be decided based on five "non-negotiable" issues: opposition to abortion, stem-cell research, human cloning, gay marriage and euthanasia.

Now, don't be one of those stuffy ideologues who feel dirty about getting into bed with conservatives like Rev. Warren and Bob Gates. I take it on excellent authority that "there are a whole host of areas where Republicans in some cases may have a better idea," such as "on issues of regulation."

Would it be so wrong if McConnell and Hayden joined the fun? I'm sure they smell much better than any dirty hippie!

The next 4 years are going to be gag-awful.

Can you impeach someone before they are sworn in?

Shainzona

10 "he hasn't done anything yet" demerits for you!

VL, the stopmebeforeivoteagain site is definitely lefty--we are

so lib/mod/prog here comparatively!

Great graphics and art work.

In a better world

Corrente would be the definition of centrism. We're crazy radicals because we want honest media and new media, the rule of law, the same health care as every other industrialized nation has, etc.

And if the Village can't deliver on that?

And I don't think it can, what then?

"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win." -- Mahatma Gandhi

Since Big Shit Pile exploded into Big Shitstorm, haven't heard

so much from Obama about the great Repub ideas on "issues of regulation." Or have I missed some statements?

"...there are a whole host of areas where Republicans in some cases may have a better idea," such as "on issues of regulation."

Ah, yes. Judgement....

Don't worry

They're the party of ideas. They got a million more like that, and they're all well worth listening to over the next four-to-eight years.

After all, they've been working so well for us so far, balancing out the radical leftwing agendas in Congress like, uh, um, uh... I got nuthin'.

Refreshing: Nial Ferguson last night corrected Tavis Smiley on

Repub and MCM (plus some FKD Dems) talking point that Clinton's appointees started the big bankster deregulation which lead to Big Shit Pile and Big Shitstorm. Said things didn't really start going whacko until 2004--and is definitely to be laid on BushCo's doorstep. (Smiley reluctantly agreed to not continue to argue the matter! Like Tavis, much as I appreciate what he does, is on the same level of econ analysis as Ferguson?)

After 8 yrs (!!!) of Bush I can't get excited about anything now

Just looking back over the big lowpoints of the Bush presidency I get exhausted, depressed and feel powerless. All the efforts of writing to my representatives, donating to and campaigning for my candidate, and protesting war efforts - are for naught. I can't get emotionally involved in these harbingers of another failed presidency by a president-elect who makes policy based on what the popular kids are doing.

Bleeeccchhhh.

I love this job!

We can't afford not to have single-payer!

Rove believed in "Attack, attack, attack!"

I remember that from reading "Bush's Brain," in which Rove, a fan of Napoleon, said it's best to overwhelm your enemy with audacious attacks on multiple levels to stun them into submission. And it works. After a while, you just don't even know what to do anymore, you just shut down.

I feel that way in dealing with misogynistic bigotry and the belief that American democracy is truly dead.

Bush's third term. That's what we have. n/t

I love this job!

No, it's Reagan's eighth term

That's the part I don't think anybody gets.

We are all conservatives now.

Reagan's Eighth Term: Brilliant!

To be fair to Bill Clinton, he didn't have a mandate for reform comparable to the one Obama will be playing in a few, extremely historic, days. That said, he scotch'd the snake, rather than killed it. Now, it's Obama's turn to end Reagan's term.

correction

"To be fair to Bill Clinton, he didn't have a mandate for reform comparable to the one Obama will be playing squandering in a few, extremely historic, days."

I sincerely hope I am wrong about this.

On Ending Reagan's Eigth Term

If a Reagan-admirer like Obama could do any such thing, then maybe he could be The One.

But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...

VL, will this Obama Administration come with

it's own vomit bucket? 'Cause I'm gonna need one. The number of highly educated real-world inhabiting people I know who get all pod-peoply when talking about Obama (and who also obediently spit out the newest talking point--Team of Rivals) requires that I have a vomit bucket handy at all times. There's probably an official one that I have to donate to the Obama Perpetual Campaign to get.

Seriously, if I wasn't reluctant to make Doris Kearns Goodwin wealthier than she already is, I would hand every pod person who said Team of Rivals a copy of the book. This team of rivals crap bear little resemblance to the historical reality of Lincoln's cabinet and it's effect on Lincoln and government.

Good thing Obama ain't no dominionist

But it seems like its best to label as dominionist them silly country bumpkins (e.g. Hillary, Palin).
