Maybe "public option" (or "plan") advocates should consider doing the same thing?
They could call their move "the walkback"!
NOTE It always comes back to the same thing: Wannabe insiders and career liberals parsing the words of putative authority figures. Single payer advocates don't have to parse their words: We know what we want, we have examples of success, we can prove our solution works, and we have crafted legislation.

Actually, it was a mechanical invention, something which latched
into the shoes, allowing the dancers to lean forward at a startling degree (45 degrees, maybe more; the mechanics made it possible, but unfit bodies couldn't have held the pose and returned to verticle). It was some kind of bolt which would rise out of the stage floor; the dancers would have to make their marks with exacting precision; then go into the move. Fascinating look. This was covered on one of the evening news broadcasts.
I happened to turn on the TV and saw Brooke Shields' rememberance today. Very moving.
But still, this is almost more coverage than St. Ronnie got! Given the "mysteries" being covered probably more.
