CD once told me that if I wanted to understand the Village* then Marie Antoinette was the movie to watch. When I was down in DC, I crashed with DCblogger (hat tip) and we watched Marie Antoinette on the teebee.

Boy, was CD right.

NOTE * Back when the blogosphere was trying to think of a better term for the Beltway than "the Beltway," I tried to propagate "Versailles on the Potomac." Digby's "The Village" won out, as it should have, but I've noticed "Versailles" making a comeback recently. Hmmm....
