Liz has the whole story, but I'll assume most of you have heard that places like the Museum of Obsolete Computers in OH is getting some of the money that could've been used to protect unimportant places like say, Wall Street. There are more reasons than that for a New Yorker to be pissed off, as she details, but to me this sums it all up best:
And all along Hillary said that she would look into why the WH told the EPA to cover up their air quality findings after 9/11 and said she make sure NYC got adequate anti-terror funding. Feh. Useless.
Steve and Kos make note of her continued confusion about which party she's in:
This summer, [Hillary] Clinton will participate in the rollout of a Democratic agenda, a project initiated by the centrist Democratic Leadership Council. At her urging, the project includes participation of the liberal Center for American Progress, as well as two other centrist groups, the New Democrat Network and Third Way.When he sought the presidency, Bill Clinton used the DLC to signal a break from the old Democratic Party when the DLC officials were at war with the liberal wing. Hillary Clinton appears to have the opposite goal, which is to use the DLC as a base from which to unite the party to rebut criticism that Democrats have no common message.
D.O.A.
Has Hillary Clinton been asleep since 2000. People, starting with John Kerry, have legitimate, ongoing beefs with Al From and the way he's attacked Dems. There is real, ongoing antipathy between the Vichy Dems of the DLC and their legacy of failure, and the base of the party, who has provided the money and the bodies for a range of candidates.
Even New Yorkers are tiring of her pandering to the right. Allying with Rupert Murdoch is a good way to piss off a lot of liberals. There is a lot of talk about Clinton, but little real support. is it arrogance or stupidity which makes Clinton think she can be a unifying figure?
And also Steve notes her 42% disapproval rating according to some polls. I agree with Steve- no amount in even her considerable war chest is going to change that. She'll run, she'll be neck in neck the whole race, and they won't have to work hard stealing the election after all- this time it'll be believably close.
I'm not going to say all the nasty things I'd like to about her, but the foil does get all tingly at times like these. She "listens" and gives us really important legislation banning video games, and utterly ignores people like this guy, one of the many long suffering, actual heroes of the dark days of 01. Don't get me started on her love of all things the Senator from Israel believes in.
I'm throwing down the gauntlet because I want to be ahead of the game: if she is the nom, I'm done. Not one dime, or phone call, and I won't pull the presidential level at all. Reckless? Stupid? You may tell me so. But as far as I can tell she's as bad as Holy Joe and has the war-voting record to prove it. What good is being a "champion" of women's rights in an age where abortion is illegal and the AL SCOTUS is soon to be filled with nutjobs who'll lock me up were I to visit their state? Hil is the original 'barn door' candidate, and she can't shut up fast enough for my tastes.
