In a Show of Unity, the Democratic Party Decides to Agree with the Vicious GOP Lies about Democrats

BDBlue's picture

Via Talk Left, Jim Clyburn defended his trashing of the Clintons today by trashing Al Gore, repeating the GOP lie that the Willie Horton attack on Dukakis began with Gore instead of the Republicans (and how nice of him to once again absolve the GOP of its racism while falsely condemning a Democrat).

So for those counting at home, the Democratic Party has agreed that:

1) Hillary is a monster who will say anything to win;
2) Bill Clinton is angry, out-of-control, and a poltiical detriment;
3) Democrats have been hostile to people of faith;
4) The Baby Boomer counter-culture was un-American;
5) Harry & Louise were right about healthcare; and
6) The GOP's racist attack on Michael Dukakis was Al Gore's fault.

So basically everything the party has been telliing you for the past 20 years is a lie. The Republicans were right all along. Not only about policy, but about the evilness of liberals and Democrats. Welcome to post-partisan America.

Needs the TL link... and if you Google Corrente and Harry & Louise, you'll find the link for that.

The Gore Thing

is what set me off. It's not enough to lie about Clinton, now Dem leaders have to repeat right-wing talking points about Gore?

And if someone could please explain to me how trashing Democrats helps Obama, who is at least nominally running as a Democrat, I'd love to hear it. As I asked at Talk Left, can you call it a brain trust if nobody has a brain? Because it sure seems that nobody in the Obama camp has one. They should trade the donkey symbol for a scarecrow.

And Obama has said...Jim, that's an unfair and untrue charge?

Bcz he's our standard bearer, a standup guy, right? Wouldn't let his supporters/spokespeople unjustly malign others, right?

Oh, yeah....

Jim Clyburn

is a disgrace. He can go to hell.

this shit is fine to bring up or make up, but

no one talks about what Teddy did to Carter, or that it was Dukakis who used plagiarism against Biden, etc...

it's so weird how some past things are fine and dandy to use, and others not.

I had not known the role of Dukakis in the plagiarism charge

against Biden. I'd always thought it sounded like a bum rap, but I had no idea had often attributed the basis of comments. Wow.

Media Matters has it well covered.

And the big important newspapers? They were obviously playing the game they love so well: Bringing down Dems who might rock the boat and choosing our candidates.

That, I think, is the real story. Until the internet we didn't have a way to figure out why the MCM was covering some things and not others, coming up with stupid charges against some candidates and ignoring real charges against others.

Wow. Been going on how damn long?

And right now Brian Williams asked Kerry why he didn't go after the Swift Boaters until "too late." Kerry pointed out that they did respond, that some news agencies DID cover their responses. He did not name those who did not.

We need and deserve a much better free press.

& Dukakis was that year's DC Dem establishment pick--

so it was the party itself that used it against Biden back then.

So Democratic Congress folk like to support losing nominees.

Its not like that helps them with raising money or anything.

Just saying.

The Worst Part

is that it's the made up parts that seem to stick. The real travesties get brushed aside.

Can I Just Say..?

That James Clyburn has been exceptionally vile in this whole primary/election saga? He was central to the smearing of the Clinton's as racists. I've had it up to here with his condescension and self-righteousness. He's the son of a minister, and boy does it show. As a fellow African American, I deal with folks like him nearly every day. They think they have the "keys to the kingdom" of our community, and they actually do in many cases because we let them.

But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...

Good reading! Favorite quote: What could go wrong?
Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.
