In the time of chimpanzees I was a monkey

bush_speech The camera doesn't lie, does it? Take a look at that face. That's Bush as he tossed another 20,000 unarmored citizens into the Iraqi meatgrinder. Look into his soul. Read his body language. That's what Howard Fineman did:

Bush's way forward may be sensible. But his face showed fear—and that's no way to rally a war-weary nation. I have never seen him, in public or private, look less convincing, less sure of himself, less cocky. With his knitted brow and stricken features, he looked, well, scared. George Bush had the look of a man who knew he had made a royal hash of things.

In the words of the famous chorus, where the Spanish is simple enough even for El Decider:

Soy un perdedor

I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(I can’t believe you)
Soy un perdedor

I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(Sprechen Sie Deutsch hier, Baby!)
Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(know what I’m sayin’? )

Yeah, I know what you're saying.

And Jeebus, the guy's at 20%. And, personally, he's a weakling. That means the ruling class faction behind him is really powerful, to force this policy on us against our will.

NOTE Thanks to VastLeft for the Fineman link.

UPDATE More body language analysis from Tom Shales at WaPo:

... tense, rigid and, appropriately enough, unyielding ... Bush stood so rigidly that he almost seemed to be pasted against the backdrop ... no emotion, however, no passion ... At times, it almost looked like a still photo, except that the president's lips did move [So, he was lying?] ... Some viewers, this one included, may have sensed a certain tension and anxiety in the president's facial expression, at least as he began speaking. .... almost emotionlessly ...

I'd say they tranquillized Him, except He didn't slur his words.
