[Welcome, John "Pony-Lovin'" Cole readers. --lambert]
Not. Heh.
Actually, my own preference was not for "cult," the word BTD chooses to use, but for "Obama fan base," as being historically accurate (MySpace being heavily populated by fans), playing off the idea of "the base" (Bush's Christianist
loons), and being less offensive (that would be my Teddy Bear personality), but who am I to argue with BTD?
Fortunately, nobody who is anybody will pay attention to this tempest. A blog never invited anyone to a party.
NOTE John Cole does some projection:
At least until [H]e, you know, actually does something that deserves your derision. And if and when [H]e does, we will join you. Until then, amuse yourself writing diaries for No Quarter, and while you are at it, do us a favor and ask Larry about the “Whitey” tape. Wanker
. [Capitalization put in correct form. --lambert]
Teh funny; ej m'amuse! No reader who pays any kind of attention at all could possibly confuse BTD with Johnson, exactly because BTD doesn't traffic in tapes that can't be shown to exist, and Cole produces no such diaries at NQ from BTD. It's a smear, an art form with which both Conservatives (even pony lovers, like Cole) and the OFB
(e.g.) are intimately familiar and practice routinely.
And teh pathetic. Everywhere in the Obamasphere, it's one variation or another "wait 'til he does something." Er, why? *
I can hear it now: "You say Then it will be too late as if that were a bad thing!"
UPDATE * Even more amazing, if we take Cole as a proxy, Obama's fans labored so hard to elect somebody when they didn't know what he was going to do. The real reason they have to wait, I hazard, is that since they established no policy standards for him in their own minds, they have nothing to hold him accountable for. The demand to Shut The Fuck
Up, then, is mere self-medication for cognitive dissonance, since progressives, doncha know, progress. Like, in a direction. Maybe even in one direction as opposed to another. Alas, "change" without direction is mere speed without velocity.
Reach me some more of that honeymoon cake, wouldja, hon?
UPDATE Hilarity continues, as Cole's pony-obsessed readers finally find something BTD got wrong (Obama's caucus dominance). Don't feed the trolls! It's a mug's game. Alas, Cole's smearing distracts from the original point of BTD's post, which is that warrantless surveillance advocate Brennan has no place in an administration that promised "change." I'm sure that's just a coincidence.

Cole is another one.
Like JM, he was for it before he was against it. He used to make a fool of himself regularly around the blogosphere arguing for the war and contemptupusly dismissing those of us who were against it. I don't care if he's now a supposed dem - he lost all credibility back then. He couldn't have been more wrong. And he only turned against the war because it wasn't planned or executed correctly. The Bush kool-aid started tasting bitter - must have been all those cheetos.
Nimrod. His judgment is suspect always.
Now they are asking us to wait and see
When Obama does do something they would not like by any objective assessment, when the cognitive dissonance makes their heads explode, they will be reduced to their true basic argument: at least he's not Hillary.
They didn't have to know what he was going to do. All they had to know was who he was not.
We are confident in the knowledge that they are FITH. Teh funny.
What a sad and sorry lot they are.
I love this job!
