The argument can be made that the Iran buildup is another Rovian ploy, a head fake, a distraction from Iraq, and that Iraq needs to be the main focus of Congressional attention.
I'm sympathetic to this position--after all, it's almost impossible to misunderestimate how Machiavellian the administration is--but I do think that the Democrats ought to be able to do more than one thing at a time.
Think of Iraq and Iran this way:
Iraq is a forest fire, blazing out of control.
Preventing an attack on Iran is the fire break that will prevent the Iraq forest fire from spreading.
Surely the Democrats can both fight a forest fire, and lay down a firebreak?
