QOTDI did not understand at the time that there was no way to talk to people who had already forgotten that war is an expensive and dangerous thing to do, and it happens to involve killing lots of people, and, most of all, that killing lots of people is bad. It is bad whether someone else does it or you do it, but you can control you, and if you know that killing lots of people is bad, you don’t fucking do it. I tried to express this on my blog, many times. Maybe I wasn’t very good at it. Maybe I thought it was so obvious that I didn’t explain it clearly enough. I guess I thought everyone already knew.
