In noting that the Washington Post endorsed Barack Obama, Atrios wrote the following:
There really was never any doubt about who Fred Hiatt's gang would endorse. The best way to push your center-right agenda is to pretend it's actually a center-left agenda. That's been the racket for as long as I can remember.

if they weren't 100% sure that their agenda
would be furthered by Obama, they wouldn't have endorsed him--it's something people should think about.
supposedly the NYT will endorse him Sunday--
the Village
has picked their guy--because he won't change a thing.
Since most if not all the MSM/columnists/pundits/talking heads too are for him--and they're not trusted at all for very good reasons--why is it that voters still are deluding themselves that he'll fight for us?
David Brooks (Republican) today gave him another blowjob-- http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/17/opinio... -- Thinking About Obama
Chicago Tribune too--"much more of a pragmatic centrist"
"... We do, though, think Obama would govern as much more of a pragmatic centrist than many people expect.
We know first-hand that Obama seeks out and listens carefully and respectfully to people who disagree with him. He builds consensus. He was most effective in the Illinois legislature when he worked with Republicans on welfare, ethics and criminal justice reform.
He worked to expand the number of charter schools in Illinois--not popular with some Democratic constituencies.
He took up ethics reform in the U.S. Senate--not popular with Washington politicians.
His economic policy team is peppered with advisers who support free trade. He has been called a "University of Chicago Democrat"--a reference to the famed free-market Chicago school of economics, which puts faith in markets. ..." -- http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opini...
"University of Chicago Democrat"
the most damning thing I've ever read said about Obama and it's in an endorsement. The media have really learned nothing, have they? What was that Stirling Newberry said "they weren't wrong, they aren't sorry". Just about sums it up.
And, hey, why shouldn't we have faith in the markets? What could go wrong?
If you could try a school for crimes against humanity, the University of Chicago School of Economics would be locked up at the Hague. Has any academic institution ever done so much damage and done it on such a global scale?
"Do what you feel in your heart to be right -- for you'll be criticized anyway. You'll be damned if you do, and damned if you don't. " - Eleanor Roosevelt
yup--and when they applaud that stuff, the opposite is always
better for us--always.
Today on tv it's all about Powell possibly endorsing him too--and not one mention of Iraq or Powell admitting he lied to the whole world, etc--only how damaging it'll be to McCain if he endorses Obama.
What WILL the blogger boyz say if Powell endorses Obama?
Will he suddenly become praiseworthy? Ought to be interesting to see what happens, if there's a Powell endorsement.
University of Chicago will define the Obama administration
Whenever I try to tell myself that everything will be so much better under Obama I can't help but remember that he's knee-deep in University of Chicago thinking. He doesn't just "pal around" with these discredited fools, he actually believes this philosophy.
University of Chicago is not "Chicago School"
Although there are plenty of reasons to dislike the University of Chicago as well...
[ ] Very tepidly voting for Obama [ ] ?????. [ ] Any mullah-sucking billionaire-teabagging torture-loving pus-encrusted spawn of Cthulhu, bless his (R) heart.

Chicago is Friedman and "trickle-down" and "free market"
and "free trade" etc, no?
It's Reaganomics.
And Friedman Is The University of Chicago
When people talk about the Chicago School, they're talking about Friedman and his followers, who were at the University of Chicago.

I'm proud to say that
the Econ Dept at the University of Wisconsin refused to grant tenure to or reappoint Milton Friedman in 1940. The decision was made by Edwin Witte, who was department chair at the time, a strong Progressive, and often referred to as the "Father of Social Security" (he chaired the commission that wrote the law).
Your comment makes this exiled Badger extremely proud!
Great thing to know. Esp'ly about Witte being the Father of SocSec. Way to go Wisconsin, way to go UW.

Republican Endorsements
GOP endorsements for Obama have been accepted with glee among his followers; it's not surprising because many of his followers aren't liberal or progressive to begin with.
Powell will be accepted with open arms. I can not tell you how many times I've heard these folks speak of Powell as a victim, as someone who was just 'too good a soldier' to say no to his boss on Iraq.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Obama forgives all sins. Let's just put it this way, if McCain weren't running for president against Obama, Obama and his supporters would be more than happy to accept and praise an endorsement by John McCain.
But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...
