Heck, if you've flipped the bozo bit on me, maybe you can listen to her:
"Listen. Just listen." It's Barack Obama who needs to convince people himself that they want to vote for him. He needs to get up there and stand for something bigger than "nonpartisanship" and "reaching across the aisle". Barack says precious little about the things that keep people up at night, and until he does, some perfectly decent people will remain unconvinced - and not without good reason. When people don't hear you talk about what concerns them, they have every reason to wonder whether they concern you at all. (Not that he'll make me believe in him, but I'm assuming that you actually want to win.)
Or, as I keep saying:
And we get?
Who knows? It could happen tonight. In any case, there's plenty of time until November.

It's like a horror film
The insanity is spreading!
He has one limitation on
He has one limitation on him that Bill and Joe Biden don't. Well, Clinton ran into that problem too. He can't appear to be an angry black man. Not much that turns America off more than an angry black man in public.
I'm going to predict that he isn't going to change any minds on Corrente regardless of what he says tonight.
My issue is health care, which has nothing to do with anger
Or at least not with being an "angry black man."
He's got power to change my mind on that, but at this point ("universal health care would be on anybody's list" -- just not my list) I'll have to do a little parsing of any new policy or proposal before I jump for joy.
My litmus test was FISA, of course. Oh well.

it's not "what he says" --
he's already changed his position from most of what he said during the primaries. "What he says" is worthless and not backed up by anything.
it's actions, and a track-record of DOING, and fighting for issues that help and don't harm us -- that's what's always been missing.
tisk, tisk, hobson
don't paint the whole blog community with a single brushcolor. altho i tend to agree with the above, and speeches mean nothing to me, my mind remains open. there's still time, and still actions he could take that would make me a ardent supporter, instead of anti-republican lever puller, if some action of his felt sincere and significant to me. after all, i was 1000% anti-war from the get go, but chose to believe that war-voting edwards was sincere in his change of heart.
All the D candidates, including Hillary
support the imperial role, which is the big question.
Of the candidates, the only one who I can believe would change is Hillary, because I saw her do that after Feb when she figured out who she wasn't invisible to.
The only candidate who doesn't is Paul, and it's a damn shame we can't figure out a way to connect to him. Maybe being "party invariant" will help.
NOTE I guess the other point I'd make is that if Hobson is saying that minds, including my mind, are frozen, then where were the other Obama supporters, when speaking up would have made a difference? And if the answer is "You would never have listened" my answer is "You don't know until you try." This whole thing has been like Jesse Jackson's "they work every day" for Hillary supporters, but Obama? Not so much. I don't understand that. Especially since this is the most important election EVAH.

From what I’ve read here
From what I've read here so far, he didn't change any minds on Corrente. What I see is that vitriol is being substituted for analysis. Read the comments on your thread on how racism might play in the election.
If people don't like him, they don't like him, no problem. But don't pretend that it's all from rational interpretation of the facts when it reads as visceral hatred.
Sounds like you're being narrow-minded, hobson
Obama's speech received a lot of positive feedback here. Some, including yours truly, will be watching to see if it's the harbinger of him running as a Democrat instead of persisting in his WTF
post-partisan bullshit.
It was great to see you calling out the "visceral hatred"...
.... as it was happening. Oh, wait...
UPDATE I'm not sure what you mean by this:
Can you elaborate?
