Christ Converts To Islam

UPDATE Of course, this isn't the first time a mysteriously well-timed tape, putatively from Osama, has gotten wingers frothing and stamping and widdling themselves. Well, Biblical scholars know agree that these are later additions because IF Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him) DID say those things, CERTAINLY, even ONE would be recorded in the other THREE Gospels.

Harnessing of male dominance desires
It isn’t so much I think a harnessing of male dominance desires that oppressive authoritarian/theocratic organizations do but rather a harnessing of an illusion of desire, a hiding away and attenuating of female sexuality, defining and imposing a separation between the reality of female sexual power and its allowed appearance, an artificiality in which men are deceived into thinking they have some control over and ability to direct women’s feelings solely towards themselves when in any objective reality they do not - at least not much and not for long.
The need for that artifice is driven by fear, the fear that women may discover the magnitude of the real power they have over men, power over access to reproduction and to sex, to comfort, to succor, to nurturing, to emotional safety. At the same time that women are denied the exercise of that power, men are also denied access to those same things in a meaningful way, real meaningfulness only being possible when they are freely given/exchanged and not when they are taken by force or coercion.
Interpersonal authoritarianism steals from both the dominant and the subordinate - in different ways and certainly with relative advantage for the dominant - such that both parties are demeaned and live lives far less fulfilled than they could be in the mutuality of freedom. Structural, cultural authoritarianism enslaves both men and women by imposing behaviors that diminish each of them. Freedom appears to require more courage than most people, men or women, have within them.
Getting back to the notion
Getting back to the notion of Islamic dressing, which is always an interesting topic, I'd like to add that for many women who choose to wear a veil, it is actually liberating. The idea is for women to be taken as individuals, co-workers, colleagues, etc., without having their hair style or clothes getting in the way of how they're perceived.
Or maybe
the fact that the man has been on the fucking run, with a large price on his head and a fair number of people with resources anxious to have him as guest of honor at a funeral, for some time now, might provide a certain motivation to alter his appearance just a tad.
That or the guy who did the beards for the Confederate generals in the movie Gettysburg converted to radical Wahibism and joined his cause. I mean, it could happen. (those beards...shudder. Longstreet's in particular...looks around for Lambert's bucket.)
