Izvestia lets the cat out of the bag about the Democrats

lambert's picture

7772So-Where-s-My-Fucking-Pony-PostThis little throwaway line in a profile John Boehner, Senate Republican leader:

Given the fact that his party is almost totally powerless....

Ponder that for a moment.

The Republicans have no power. And card check's not passed? And Gitmo's still going? There's a whole new war in Aghanistan? And there's no HOLC? And we're crapping around with so-called "public option" instead of single payer? And not one single bank or bankster has been held accountable for anything?

What does that tell you about the FKDP?

Well

If it were a party with any real instinct, it'd launch a charge the likes of what the nation hasn't seen in decades. But, we're talking about the tone-deaf FKDP, here, so they'll probably continue to find astoundingly creative ways to take their members and the nation for granted and find new ways to "screw the pooch," as they say.

But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...

The Dems are NOT "tone deaf"

They believe in what they are doing. Same deal with the "weak" narrative, which I don't believe in either. The simplest model (see Occam's razor) is that the Dems do what they do because they think it's right and because they like the results for themselves personally and those they care about. Really, what more do we need to explain how they act? And so far, their instincts have served them well, right?

tone deaf

Oh, they are tone deaf, all right, and that's also not mutually exclusive from them probably being deliberate about what they do, or not caring about it.

But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...

Common Decency

Common decency should dictate that the our new bosses at least hide what they are doing. It seems impolite to not bother with the niceties while looting what is left of our nation.

They are Politicians.

That is what they do. The Washington DC Crats are a priviledged class, if not when they come in, then certainly by the time they are running for their first reelection. Marinated daily in the stew of all that power and wealth is apparently irresistable to the uninitiated (and only what they expect for those already in the wealth class).

The Democratic party of yore is dead. Put a fork in it. Their tactics are the same as the Repubs...rely on the base for votes but milk the corporations for financing their campaigns. The difference is the composition of their respective bases. That, and the Repub base has forced more accountability (with admittedly mixed success) than the Dem base has done thus far .

I am as incredulous at progressives' growing disillusionment with Obama as I was at their uncritical embrace of him during the primaries. He created a personal movement but as president seems niaive, paternalistic, and detached on both a personal and political level. True leadership requires taking risks and Obama is risk averse to the extreme. Never have I witnessed so many people spending so much time trying to figure out what the hell a president's strategy is !

I like that comment...

.... about the Republican based forcing accountability. Success is mixed, yes, but according to their lights I think it's greater than ours has been.

The last man on the moon, Eugene Cernan, was on NASA TV

the other day. I was reminded of what he said by this:

True leadership requires taking risks and Obama is risk averse to the extreme.

What the astronaut said was, "You can't be risk averse."

Doesn't matter if you're leading. Matters if you're *alive*.

Good reading! Favorite quote: What could go wrong?
Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.

Key takeaway: Since the United States is sovereign in its own currency, Federal spending is not operationally constrained by revenues (unlike non-sovereign households, non-sovereign states that use Federal dollars, like CA, or countries, like Greece, that use the Euro).
