Jake Tapper, former journalist

tom's picture

Wow, remember Jake Tapper, formerly of Salon?

You remember, the guy who helped to break big stories during the Clinton impeachment stupidity?

Well he used that experience to get a shot at the big time and has apparently just become one of the alpha girls. (Even sillier CYA post here.)

It's really sad to see the decline of his investigative skills. He's now just doing stenography for power apparently.

Come on Jake, burn your source for that story. That way we'd at least learn who you do your stenography for.

And in the proud tradition of...

right wing bloggers everywhere, the ABC News folks are deleting most of the comments in the thread -- including the last two I've left.

Wow. That's impressive.

If you can't stand the heat...delete the embarrassing comments!

Heck, they've deleted the vast majority of comments...

for the two posts.

I guess we know how well they take criticism over there at ABC News, don't we?

comment stream has resumed

at Jake TappedOut's followup post, he's not getting away just yet. Maybe some fun to just keep pounding on him for this idiocy after every article he publishes - For ever. And ever.

bringiton, me thinks for ever and ever is about it

Tom, great uh, catch. Interesting that it didn't occur to Jake to check out the Gore's side before he did the original fishy story. Someone must have whispered in his ear that the groom's family often gives the rehearsal dinner.

For an even more discouraging example of non-journalism, this time dealing with a real subject, take a look at TappedOuts (like that bringiton) challenging Dems on leaving Iraq - nothing but a series of Republican talking points; you can find it here.

I'm beginning to think that we may have to wait until the current crop of beltway heathers passes on before we can get a decent free press again...

I put it on my morning coffee list

click on link, don't even actually have to read whatever tripe he's peddling, just a quick note asking if he knows what kind of fish Al Gore had for dinner last night?

Again, and again, and again.......

I'm a good troll, I am I am.

I too noticed that they

I too noticed that they were deleting my critical comments. I can't figure it out though - I don't use any obscenities, and I'm basically just sarcastic. Apparently though it's enough of a shaming that Jake's delicate sensibilities just can't take it.

They're still doing it.

My last post, which just said where this story came from, last under 1 minute before it was deleted.

Jake Tapper and the ABC News bunch are apparently too chickenshit to take real criticism.

Good reading! Favorite quote: What could go wrong?
Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.
