what the hell is he doing on my TeeVee on CNN telling me that Hillary should concede right now? Toobin knows legal issues like no one else but he has literally no idea about political campaigns. Holy cow.
And anytime I’m hearing discussions about her “tone” in a speech, I get annoyed. Anytime I hear “tone” mentioned at all in any way, I get annoyed. “Tone” discussions are almost always bullshit in my view.
How many times have you sent someone an e-mail that was carefully crafted and they complain about the “tone?” We’ve all had that kind of experience. That sort of argument is almost inherently emotional, not logical or analytical.
As James Carville said, she’ll be making an announcement in the coming days. Just cool your heels, folks. You’re not going to get instantaneous gratification. Not everything works that way.
Finally, why in the world does she have to concede tonight?
I get so damned tired of these guys trying to inject their emotional viewpoints into the coverage.
And, btw, on another note, wasn’t McCain’s speech the saddest thing you’ve ever seen?
Whatever you think of Obama, he’s got 20,000 people cheering and Hillary’s got thousands listening — and he’s got a couple of hundred. Pathetic.
That’s all I can think to say.
UPDATE I like what Obama is saying. It’s a magnanimous speech. And the crowd response is good, too.
I’m going to go listen to Obama’s speech now.
UPDATE 2 And meanwhile, in the bizarre alternate universe that is DailyKos these days, it’s all an exercise in hostage-taking.
Wow, I’m really embarrassed for Markos these days.
And I used to be one of the folks listed on his blogroll (although the blog name is misspelled) when he got started. I still haven’t understood why he dropped me from the blogroll — with no explanation — in July of 2003.

Front page
Congratulations, Tom
on getting out of Kos before the rush.
Obama sounds more coherent tonight than before, but a lot of it sounds truthy to my ears, just a bit light on specifics. He’s got a lot of wok to do to clean up the mess his campaign has made.
I would like to like the guy. He’s going to have to make nice in many ways to get a lot of other people to even be willing to hear him.
I think I’ll just sit with Hillary for now, and see how the next little while turns out.
I Think There's an SCLM Rule
that no one who know anything about politics is allowed to give political commentary in any media outlet. Because I cannot think of a single one who I miss watching because he or she added to my understanding of things (I try to avoid tv news these days because I find it to be such a wasteland of misinformation). And all of them, even the new ones, use the same talking points I heard in the 1980s. They haven’t had an original thought in 30 years.
Who said Toobin was a wonderful legal analyst?
He got his start reporting on the OJ trial.
He’s one of those legal “experts” who made his name doing something besides practicing law.
At least Dershowitz was a real lawyer before he became a media hack.
Toobin was the worst editor of the Harvard Law Review until … well, you know.

My comment at GOS
“Just came back long enough to tell you to take your armchair psychology and shove it up your ass, Markos.”
Felt good!
