Great diary over at the House of Orange which goes to explaining why BushGonzoCo was so anxious to sack US Attorney Lam before she got close to investigating US Rep. Jerry Lewis. Yes, military contractors, looting, war profiteering, hedge funds and the trend to shifting ownership of these companies overseas out of US regulatory/investigative range is involved, but I guarantee this is the most coherent story involving those terms you are likely to read today.
It also ties in a little tighter the story of the non-fired USA, whose tale has not yet quite made it to TV media attention yet, Debra Wong Yang. (Apparently having one female USA of Asian ancestry in this story already uses up some sort of quota for such persons.) She's the one who was also looking into Lewis' activities right up until she quit government service to go to work for the law firm defending him. Yes, you read that right and no I am not making this up. Go read.
This story is particularly important because it points out the involvement of Big Money, in this case in the person of one Gerald "Gerry" Parsky, described as "a well-connected figure in the California GOP". We spend a lot of time here lamenting the clout of the Religious Right, the Anti-Science factions, and various other noisemakers, but Parsky represents the true dark heart of the current fascist incursion of the corporate takeover of the United States government. I'd say something like "he has a thumb in just about every one of the pies of corruption going," but the image is so disturbing I might never eat pie again, so I won't.
Diarist Mark Levey, aka leveymg, is to this particular scandal what Paul Lukasiak is to Bush's TxANG "service" records. Higher praise I cannot give. Many dots are connected in this diary and a connected one on the same topic. This Lewis guy is sleaze, and he appears to be just the very teeny public, visible tip of a very large dirty iceberg. Some light and heat is in order to encourage meltdown here.

Thanks for the good review.
Greetings, Xan -

That's where I lay bare the circle of corruption involving the Republican Congressional leadership and White House, kickbacks from corrupt defense contractors, and foreign campaign funding and influence-peddling. Yes, these things are connected, objectively and demonstably connected.
One hopes that Chairman Waxman's staff are all fit and vigorous, because there's an awful lot to dig out here.

Short list of replacements
Theodore B. Olson is on this short list. Let's see if he can withstand confirmation hearings now. Maybe he can call Debra Wong Yang as a character reference?
