Because he said that if you dont hate your mother and father compared to Him, then you are not worthy of Him. Jesus also said that He came to earth to bring not peace but a sword. Jesus said He came to earth to turn brother against brother and mother against daughter.

But to be fair, Jesus never said that He was going to turn Adam and Steve against eachother.

I’m not big on the whole jeebus meme, but it is refreshing to see people who actually read the book and who try to promulgate the whole love concept. If only they could open the minds of the bible-banging mouth-breathers like Scaife who are damned and determined to drive this country straight into the shitter in pursuit of their armageddon-orgy delusions.

I wonder how long it’ll be before the Army Of Gawd, KKK, etc. burn down this church, though, ’cause love isn’t often tolerated for long by those who live to hate. Yes, I’m a royal fucking bummer, but such is life. As soon as somebody tries to swim upstream against ignorance, hatred, and fear-mongering, they’re the first ones to get hit. I wish them well, I hope that they can actually educate their (supposed) bretheren, but if the sheeple are as much like that whackjob who started Domino’s pizza, I fear for the good ones at this church.

Perhaps, it’s because I’m Jewish, but the Christian Bible references don’t seem to be about homosexuality at all — unless you are comparing homosexuals to eunichs, which seems an odd comparison to make. Am I missing something in those verses?

with some folks in churches and elsewhere. you’re right- the “exact” wording of the scriptures noted doesn’t exactly say what the ads suggest, except with some creative interpretation.

which i’m totally fine with, seeing as how exegesis over the centuries has been very creative, sometimes taking a passage and twisting it around to say exactly the opposite of what was in “the original.” not that any of that matters.
