Now studies are finding that the insults can have health consequences, especially if people mutely accept the attitudes behind them, said Becca Levy, an associate professor of epidemiology and psychology at Yale University, who studies the health effects of such messages on elderly people.
“Those little insults can lead to more negative images of aging,” Dr. Levy said. “And those who have more negative images of aging have worse functional health over time, including lower rates of survival.”
In a long-term survey of 660 people over age 50 in a small Ohio town, published in 2002, Dr. Levy and her fellow researchers found that those who had positive perceptions of aging lived an average of 7.5 years longer, a bigger increase than that associated with exercising or not smoking. The findings held up even when the researchers controlled for differences in the participants’ health conditions.
In her forthcoming study, Dr. Levy found that older people exposed to negative images of aging, including words like “forgetful,” “feeble” and “shaky,” performed significantly worse on memory and balance tests; in previous experiments, they also showed higher levels of stress.
Just saying that there are some who don't find "McOld" all that funny.

Ice floes are in short supply
So, why not? The only voters worth having are young voters, no?
Medicare problem? What Medicare problem?
But seriously, folks....
IMHO, a demoralized and depressed older electorate also nicely solves Obama's other "little" political problem with older voters.
Obama '08: The Trash Talk Express.
with no bounds and no regard for consequence
Didn't you know:
Oh yeah, its also fine to steal elections.
When seemingly good people are willing to sink to these levels, we are in deep, deep trouble. Obama's election will be like a rapidly growing cancer on our political system. For a while, Dems were actually trying to fight off the cancer, but here comes Obama and now we can steal elections and "have no regard for consequence." That, my friends, is a recipe for how you destroy a republic/democracy.
Ooooo, my very own stalker!
But you're not one of those obsessive/compulsive kinds of stalkers that cut out clippings and photos and paste them up all over the walls of some cramped little secret room in the basement with melted candles and fetish objects and a collapsed mattress with unusual stains all over it, are you gq? Because that would be creepy.
I like to think the best of people so I'll just view your behavior instead as a clipping service, and when the time comes to write the Correntewire chapter of my memoires I'll count on you to provide the tastiest quotes. Stay sharp now, pay attention to absolutely everything I say and don't be shy about marking things down, linking them up and spreading the word. Your efforts are much appreciated, and no small source of amusement.
I always click on
these "ooh, I've got my own private stalker" titles.
I don't know why. No matter who it is, it's always a train wreck. Lots of huffing and puffing, some "pithy" insults, very personal.
Funny stuff... if you like that kind of thing.

I'm not such a bad guy once you get to know me.
I'm a stalker....more reason to be afraid, very afraid
I'd have posted those comments no matter who they were from. In fact, I don't always read the person's posts these days (for obvious reasons) but it just so happened that the most outrageous statements I've seen in recent days over at Corrente have come from the same person. My whole shtick is a fair and just *process* irrespective of party, so why would it come as any sort of surprise that the two comments I highlight would show up in what I write?
But gq
That's my issue with the dogemperor posts; I don't see them being directly engaged.

"the most outrageous statements"
Thank you, thank you, thank you very much!
I'll be here all decade! Try the veal!
Yes, thanks for noticing that
It's the same as any other beating down of a group. It isn't healthy for the people in that group to be put down relentlessly like that.
Of course, that is often the goal, to beat down the group, make them unhealthy and weakened so they will quit fighting back against and submit to their supposed self described "betters."
Women have dealt with it for centuries, as have different groups at different times.
It's been far more consistent throughout the ages against women, IMHO. Whatever insult or demeaning thing has been said or acted against any group, usually has been and is being used against women even more so, as in ageism for instance.

I read and followed every circular link
In Dogemperor's post a couple weeks ago. http://www.correntewire.com/palin_domini... I noticed an interesting trend, most links point to his own previous posts. Following the links on his self-referenced posts doesn't yeild a satisfying end where the main source is credible...
So here's the thing, he links to himself linking to himself plus a link to the Wassila Church and a Pagan blog (themselves without substantial links) and one article from a less hearsay-ish source - but that only identifies the African Minister as being way out there and shows he once went to Wassila and prayed over Governor Palin when she was running for office and she apparently indicated it helped her somehow. Oh no!
This whole thing reminds me of the birth certificate stuff on No Quarter that Joe Cannon was kind enough to waste a bunch of time on to discredit. Maybe Joe will come to our rescue here.
Is Sarah Palin a secret Dominionist plant? I don't see how her RECORD supports that.
It seems like Dogemperor had some issues with HIS former church and has an axe to grind. I can appreciate that to some extent, but his posts just seem to go off the reservation in trying to tie Sarah Palin (and Hillary Clinton in the past) to this stuff.
Well...
I spent some time last night doing just that, and:
1. Many of the DK posts do point to other DK posts. Whaddaya want, dogemperor should rewrite each time? Now, when I clicked though (my thread was horrific child abuse) I ultimately did come to attested (official) publications.
2. Since this comment is OT on this thread, I will point out that the thesis of the latest post is not that Palin is a secret Dominionist plant. Repeating that straw man does not turn the straw into gold.
