Know your cliches!

I thought that the Republicans had mastered the art of talking entirely in cliches long ago, but those wacky Republicans! They can always surprise us. What House flak Dan Bartlett:

[BARTLETT] “What we aren’t doing is sitting there with our heads in the ground,” said White House counselor Dan Bartlett as he made the rounds of five morning television news shows. He said that the administration was “making tactical changes on a week-by-week basis as we respond to the enemy’s reactions to our strategies.”

Now, does anyone know what Dan Bartlett means here?

“Heads in the ground,” WTF?

Bartlett can keep an ear to the ground.

Or he can put his head in the sand.

Or he can put his head up his ass.

But “heads in the ground”? I don’t think so.

Know your cliches, Dan, know your cliches! Study up, and maybe that “stay the course” thing won’t die on you the next time….

NOTE Whoops, I almost forgot to mention this “tactics” not “strategy” thing they’re pushing now.

Nice try, but it’s the strategy that’s fucked. No matter that the PNAC was hot to do, putting our troops into Iraq was a strategic mistake, that’s weakened our ability to deal with real threats. Jeebus, can’t somebody in our famously free press, or even a Democrats, call bullshit on these guys?
