Krugman's following the tax money

lambert's picture

Krugman seems to be going nuts on campaign tax policy on his blog, with posts here and here and here and here.

Pay attention!

The man called his shot on Bush in 2000 based on tax policy, and he was so, so right.

There's no similar, single take-away that I see from these posts, but I'm guessing Krugman is working up to something....

If you liked this post, buy the author some books.

Krugman Teases

But where is the money for health care reform?

Hint: Won't be no meaningful health care reform!!!

No mandates baby!

that's my take so far

no money for health care reform.

but yeah, i'm obsessively checking krugman's blog and column both, all the time now, waiting to see what his final pronoucement is going to be.

The most that I think you can expect in the way

of changes to health care is the expanded S-Chip program that received bipartisan support and was vetoed by Bush.

The "change" that Obama always mentions refers to how he will change his mind about doing anything that he promised to do once he becomes president.

Single take-away? Three words: Fiscal Poison Pill

The take home message for me was that while Obama's plan is flawed, McCain's one is pure madness.

also, Congress won't let Bush's tax cuts die--

their funding is wholly provided by corps and rich people--and neither will they kill corp subsidies (like Obama's fav Ethanol shit, etc).

The GOP obstructionists will stop all increases in any social spending like health--mark my words--and Obama's middle class and senior citizen taxcuts remove revenue as well anyway--revenue we desperately need.

We're also still hemorraging money in Iraq and will continue to do so--that's money we don't have either.

Democrats are never allowed to deficit spend like the GOP always does--Obama won't be different or exempt from that.

Good reading! Favorite quote: What could go wrong?
Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.
