Haw.
I remember when the Garden used to be the Garden, and not Naming Rights Arena, or whatever the Fuck
they call it these days.

It's the 'New Garden' Now.
AFAIK?
It's the Naming Rights Garden
.
i hate pro basketball, the men's game
i didn't always. for the same reason i hate pro football. the players are more celebrity diva princess rapists than players these days, and the announcers and ads are worse. whatever happened to just playing the game? must ever player have the ultimate goal of being constantly at the center of everyone's attention?
my sister was a varsity big ten player, and watching her taught me how to enjoy the sport that i never played. but the stuff on teevee i just can't handle. the women's pro game is better, although i worry that eventually money and celebrity will ruin that too.
but hating on LA i can get down with anytime (excepting leah, of course) that town sux.
LA = FAIL
God, even though I grew up in that blasted city, I cheer the demise of the Lakers. I used to love them as a kid, but I hate Kobe Bryant. Punk-ass fool! Get your ass traded already!
And it's nice--and somewhat disturbing--to see Boston become home to sports champions. I went to school nearby and never did I imagine that in my lifetime I'd see the Red Sox win, let alone have the Pats and (possibly) the Celtics as fellow champs.* Partying it up in Boston when the Pats won the Superbowl in '02 still remains one of my favorite college memories.
*Yes, the Pats lost this year, but they have been a dominant force for the past 5 years or so.
Memories....
I saw McHale clothesline Kurt Rambis watching the TV through a store-front grille in Harvard Square. 9PM or so and everything was closed!
Happy, carefree days!

Here you go, Lambert
Credit Danny Ainge
who put together a team instead of a collection of individuals. Still, men's pro basketball does not excite me all that much.
Women's pro beach volleyball? Now there's a sport worth watching, especially in LA. Pack your sunscreen, CD, and I'll save you a seat.
proving once again how wrong you are, BIO
actually, not really, but you brought it up so let me get my soapbox.
women's beach volleyball isn't a sport; it's a SI bikini ed in live action. ok, that's too harsh. the game of beachball is actually really fucking hard, and to be good you've got to be in mondo shape. jumping high while launching from sand is Hard. that said, i really hate beachball. because i Love Strategy. there is none, in that game. it's just set, spike, dive, set, spike, dive, set, spike, dive, oooh! nice tits!
i played varsity big ten and also other competitive places, and what i learned to love about the game (besides the hitting part, yeah!) was that you had to think. where is she going with that swing? will she fake out the middle defender? is the back row weak now that they can't sub? etc. the beachball game has none of that. lots of bouncing, firm flesh, yes. but i miss the teamwork of the real thing.
normally i can make people understand when i put it this way: would you rather see jordan and the all star olympic team kick the shit of of the rest of the world, or watch them break up into little groups of three for a backyard tourney? in my case, even not liking basketball so much anymore, the choice is clear. same dif with beach vs indoor volleyball.
Which is why I prefer
Mud volleyball.
No bikini's, no skill, no strategy.

It's the fuckin' Bastin Gahden and LA will be luck they see it
again. Amazing game last night, great team and an outstanding effort. Garnett needs to take more chances and lead the charge to the basket, we're operating w/out a real point guard (don't get me wrong, I love Rondo but he's been a liability in the last few series and it's not due to injuries), Ray Allen is an artist who's finally found his stroke and the bench has been huge. 56 hours until tip off.
I love this job!
I love this job!
Oh, CD; on some subjects you are too easy
Sorry to have pushed your button, (not really, but that is the conventional phrasing) but it was just sitting there, flashing as it were, and I couldn't resist. :-)
Not being all that much of a sunburn fan - no melanin is a genetic defect - I would happily switch my enthusiasm to indoor Vball if something could be done about those uniforms....and with the addition of coconut oil, lots of coconut oil....
Did that help? No? Ah, well. Must be that damn testosterone again.
Still and all, props to Danny Ainge and the Celtics for winning by playing as a team in a team sport. Sometimes the universe unfolds as it should.
who you callin 'easy,' oldster?
heh. well, actually, you're right. i wouldn't turn down a session between the sheets with that gabrielle whatshername beach model/player. she can rub oil on my tummy anytime and i'll spank her rounded parts with reckless abandon.
i've missed you. i'm glad you're still here.
Missed you too
so very pleased you're back, back in style, and truly delighted with your garden and the chance to read your thoughts and...well, that's all the mushy you'll get from me today.
Must go back now to being all pissed off and unclear.
