Lambert volunteered for Lieberman's campaign, and gets the kickoff mail!

I signed up for Ho Lieberman’s mailing list, and his crack Internet team took only three weeks to send me some spam. Here it is, in its entirety. (It includes his Labor Day itinerary, by the way).

My reading of it: Lieberman’s goal is to provoke the netroots into acting out, on camera. So, if you meet Joe on the road, BE POLITE when you call him on his bullshit. Create only photo-ops that win for us.

Subject: Join Us As We Kick Off Our Fall Campaign of Unity and Purpose

[“Unity and purpose…” ’Scuse me a minute. There. Now I feel better.]

September 2, 2006
Dear lambert,

Surely the lowercase “l” would be a tip-off to decent software that “lambert” is a nom de guerre? Appparently not. And surely my IP address would tip off some systems that I’m not from Connecticut, and therefore highly unlikely to volunteer?

This coming week Round Two of our campaign begins.

“Round two.” Unbelievable. Lieberman loses in the Democratic primary, grabs the life preserver the Republicans throw him, and then sets out to betray the party he used to belong to. It’s only a “round two” the way that the World Wrestling Foundation thinks of rounds; some guy jumps out of the ring and throws a chair: that’s a round. For Joe, the only rule is “whatever works for me.”

We hope you have your waders gloves on, because our Team
Connecticut
has a tough fight ahead of us, and we need
your help more than ever. Here are a just a few ways
you can make a difference right from the get-go.

On Monday, September 4th I will be marching in the
state's biggest Labor Day parade in Newtown with a
group of local supporters.

Just not in the front, and not as a Democrat. What a shame!

If you are free that day, we invite you to stand with
us and show everyone that this campaign is about
anger, ego, and an incumbent's sense of entitlement people, not politics. We will begin marching at
10:00am. If you are interested, please call (860)
983-9035
or email events@joe2006.com for more
information about where we'll be assembling. I look
forward to seeing you out there.

Enjoy the kiss float!

On Tuesday, September 5th we will be officially kicking
off the fall campaign with the launch of 'Joe's Doors
and Diners Tour' in Waterbury. We welcome you to join
us for this exciting event at the Bank Street Grille
(70 Bank Street) at 12 noon
.

Through this tour, we will be taking our campaign of
unity and purpose straight to voters' doorsteps for the
next nine weeks. In addition to our traditional diner
visits, we will be knocking on all kinds of doors -- at
people's homes, small businesses, and senior centers
around the state -- and recruiting all kinds of voters
to be part of Team Connecticut.

Does this translate to bootstrapping a GOTV operation starting after Labor Day? Apparently so:

To reach as many people as possible, we will be
organizing an army of volunteers to knock on doors in
your own neighborhoods. If you would like to join
'Joe's Door to Door Corps', please visit
www.Joe2006.com on Tuesday, September 5th to sign up
.

Because along with our new tour, we will be launching
our new and improved website (www.Joe2006.com) on
Tuesday as well.

It takes a month for Joe to build a website? That’s bizarre. Whassamatter Joe, can’t find anyone willing to work for you? Why would that be, I wonder?

We appreciate your patience as we substantially
upgraded the site's security and functionality.

How’s that complaint to the Feds going, guys? Time to reheat that one?

This is so, so, stupid. Blaming others because they can’t achieve a baseline level of professionalism and execute. Gee. Sounds like Iraq…

And we
are confident you will find the un-hacked version worth
the wait.

Still whining. We expect nothing less—and nothing more.

And the language sucks. There’s just no such thing as an “unhacked site.” A site that’s been hacked needs to be “unpgraded,” and it may even need to be “relaunched”—which is what they have done, even if they don’t know the right words to use. This piece must have been written by a second-rate PR person who knows nothing about the Internet. Sounds like the rumors that Joe’s short on cash are true.

One of the first things you will notice is that we have
added our own blog.

Fancy that! And in 2006. I can’t wait to use it…

That's a place you can find out the
latest scoop on the campaign, in real time.

“Latest scoop”? I’m hip to your jive, daddy-oh! Yes, there’s that second-rate PR person again.

Joe's Blog will also be a place you can actively
participate in the campaign debate and make your voice
heard. So starting Tuesday, we invite you to log-in at
www.Joe2006.com and sound off any time you want.

If you “sound off,” BE POLITE! Don’t give these guys the chance to whine about the evil, angry netroots!

The new website will also make it easy to donate money
to the campaign. We expect our opponents to pull more
than a few dirty punches in the coming months.

Yep, there’s that campaign of “unity and purpose” we’ve been looking for. And what kind of “dirty punch” do they mean? Not voting for Joe in the Democratic primary? And again, what’s with the second-rate hackery? Did they outsource this to a non-native speaker? It’s “dirty trick” and “low blow” (or “low road”) not “dirty punch.”

Help us fight back by making any kind of contribution you can.

In the meantime, thanks again for your continued
support. We are off to a great start for Round Two and
with your help, we are going to have a knockout
November.

Sincerely,

[’Scuse me again. There. Sorry, thought I brought it all up the first time.]

You were added to the system August 12, 2006.

And it takes them from August 12 to September 2 to send me a mail blast? Those money rumors must be true!

Looks like Joe is using the same firm he used when his site went down. How odd. Or not.
