Lefty bloggers: are you out?

vastleft's picture

Now and again, the denizens of the leftysphere shake their e-fists about some or other rightwing behavior by President Obama.

But how many will commit themselves to opposing the conservative Mr. Obama in the 2012 primary and election process?

Especially for a progressive political blogger, not to oppose Obama's re-election is to support his policies of militarism, corporatism, and civil liberties abuses. "Lesser of two evils" politics has brought us to this pass. Will we support its continuance or take a stand against it?

Who will sign this pledge?

The initial rallying cry of Obama's re-election campaign is "Are You In?"

My answer is no. I am 2L4O: Too Left / Too Liberal for Obama.

I do not and will not support his re-election.

I didn't vote for Obama in 2008. I will not be voting for him in 2012.

Jane Hamsher came out with a post a couple of days ago "The Breaking Point" where she appeared to break with Democrats over their efforts to cut Medicare and Social Security. But to make this more than rhetoric there needs to be a declaration that she will not support Obama or any other Democratic candidate and that she will actively promote alternatives to the two parties now as part of the run up to the 2012 election. Color me skeptical.

The point of the pledge is to separate the few who truly won't stand with and for Obamism vs. the shallow-enders who pose at the edge of the pool, pretending to have had enough but not really meaning it or doing anything about it.

Hamsher and Sirota seem to be considering it. Which is all well and good for them, but needs improvement. I mean seriously, if O and the D's don't do the CPI maneuver and just keep the payroll deduction in place now whittling away at the SS revenue stream... with all else we've seen happen and clear intents (across the board shock doctrine).... How can anyone consider supporting this criminal party?

Obama as a lame duck alarms me as much as a potential Bush lame duck term did. And I never cast a vote for either one of them. Never would... shame on those who consider O or a D of any kind (beholden to the wrong money) knowing what we've known for decades.

There are countless ways to say NO way, not with my support... which is far more important at this point than who wins or loses... we are going to ***lose for a while no matter what we do... why play along?

***With exceptions made for people powered actions mention in the danps lambert post below.

I'm certainly not going to vote for him now that I've got proof he's as much of a douchenoodle as I thought he was.

There needs to be a class of xx for Obama like there was for Bush supporters who changed their minds.

like him less now. I wanted to be wrong about Obama. I was, in a way I guess. He is much worse than even I imagined, and I expected a disaster. I didn't vote for Obama in 08. I won't vote for him in 2012. Way to right wing for the likes of me.

Is a boycott of the election feasible? (I know people who have been "boycotting" for decades.)
What if they held an election and nobody showed up?

A boycott not being feasible, the Democratic Party must die.
