But it seems that you can keep many people from being critical by making token gestures on issues and planting a garden. That, and not being named John McCain.

I can well believe that the First Couple are not committed gardeners. [pause to shed tear, as I attempt to cope with my sense of disillusion].

Still, it's a great symbol regardless, and I applaud the Obamas for making it. Who can deny it's a really good thing to have a White House beekeeper?
