Turns out they were merely lying.
I hope that, in the spirit of unity, they will forgive my ill-considered comments.

A similar sort of knowing lie has been very popular with the Netroots/Drudge/MSM merger, spreading a comment or video of a fringe supporter's comment or video, like Harriet Christian, calling it "representative," and posting it everywhere.
Except for the isolated site we're discussing on another thread, I haven't seen this on our side. And it would be so easy. The following popped up without even trying as I was looking for something else. Quite a simple matter, seems harmless enough, right? to call this man a typical Obama supporter and spend the rest of the day posting it as such, egging it along to virality. For all I know there are thousands of videos like this:
