Levin Fails Us and Calls for "Compromise" With Bush

Why? Why are they so blind? Or is this a foil matter, and Levin has been told by the war profiteers who fund his campaigns that the gravy train must not end? For fuck's sake, please point out to me the last time Bush compromised with Democrats, on anything? Compromise, bipartisanship, date rape...they're all the same thing, but our "leaders" seem to be unaware of how and why that keeps happening to them.

Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin said Democrats may be ready to compromise in the showdown with President George W. Bush over linking funding for U.S. troops in Iraq with a timetable for withdrawal.
Should Bush veto war-funding legislation that sets a limit on the U.S. military presence, Levin said the majority Democrats likely will strip out language calling for troops to start leaving Iraq in four months while keeping demands that the Iraqi government meet benchmarks for quelling sectarian violence.

``We're not going to cut off funding for the troops,'' the 72-year-old Michigan Democrat said on ABC's ``This Week'' program. ``But what we should do, and we're going to do, is continue to press this president to put some pressure on the Iraqi leaders to reach a political settlement.''

Bloomberg.
There is no Iraqi "government," there is a group of puppets and thugs and theocrats, and they're all busy vying for power over the dead bodies of their followers and our troops caught in the middle. There is no "good" solution in Iraq; Bush broke it, taxpayers paid for it, and the conditions there will continue to deteriorate for years. Anti-war people like me have been saying this for years now, and we've not yet been proven wrong in our predictions. Clapping to save Tinkerbell, teabagging Bush, and repeating He-Man talking points over and over again isn't going to make anything better in Iraq.

I am so disappointed in Carl. There is only one solution in Iraq: leave. A clear majority of the American people understand this, why don't you, Carl? Wake the fuck up.

Democrats..

You didn't really believe that if a Democrat wins in '08, we'll be leaving Iraq, did you?

Good reading! Favorite quote: What could go wrong?
Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.
