Shortly before the election, Bob Kerrey wrote the following in the NY Daily News:
My worry is not with increased threats from abroad. I am convinced those threats will be reduced with Obama's election and the beginning of a much more sensible and trustworthy American foreign policy.By my lights, the primary threat to the success of a President Obama will come from some Democrats who, emboldened by the size of their congressional majority, may try to kill trade agreements, raise taxes in ways that will destroy jobs, repeal the Patriot Act and spend and regulate to high heaven.
This is where Obama's persona is invaluable. He can withstand the arguments and pressure of the liberal wing in the Democratic caucus if, once elected, he is guided by the best instincts he has displayed on the campaign trail.
I believe this is likely because Obama will surround himself with professionals, not ideologues or acolytes. An unprecedented number of patriotic, politically savvy and centrist men and women have been part of his campaign team - and are therefore likely to make up President Obama's governing team.
Uncle Bob promised me a special pony that's huge and grey and has a long trunk! It'll be the bestest pony evah!

Pfui.
Nebraska air is bad for you. Too many republican molecules. Must be the New York air couldn't cure him.
We've Been Hearing This...
...for days on end, now. You know, the whole talk of "pragmatism." I can not tell you how many Republicans (who refuse to call themselves as such) are estatic by his win because they believe he's really a Republican at heart. What that tells me is who really won, and it wasn't us, at all. That's why I don't ever again want to hear the OFB
deride Bill and Hillary Clinton as nothing more than Republican-lite. They've lost a leg to stand on with this charge.
I am serious, and I approve this message.
