Pairs with Maine Girl Susan Collins (R-Protorture) in yet another Bipartisan wankfest:

There's a call for a new congressional advisory group to help forge a new direction for the U-S in Iraq.
Senators Joe Lieberman and Susan Collins want it to be made up of the bipartisan leadership of the five Senate panels that deal with national security.

They say the group would meet regularly to discuss the latest developments in Iraq while formulating recommendations for the president.

Collins says those leaders have never gotten together and used their expertise to discuss such an issue.

She says such a get-together would offer the opportunity for "a much freer exchange of ideas" on a critical issue.

I quote the story in its entirety, so its complete vacuity is all the more evident:

"Exchange of ideas" means:

1. Bush won't change, so it's all useless anyhow

2. "Get-togehers" are substituted for real oversight.

3. DINOs and the Republicans can always find common cause when evading accountability for thousands of deaths and trillions of dollars.

Lieberman is always willing to give Republicans cover. After all, if the Democrats ever gained a decisive edge in the Senate, Lieberman would have no role. (Seems like Lieberman took a page from the book of the Beltway Dem consultants.)

The fact that the Democrats couldn't purge this traitor does not bode well for the health of the party.

NOTE Say, how about that $300,000 Joe handed out, illegally, in "walking around money"? Any word on that?
