Media Pundits and Blogosphere Were Right About Hillary Clinton

Oh wait:

Today's New York Times: Soldiering On, Clinton Preserves Her Options

[S]he has been steadily raising money for her political action committee, which advisers say could become a means to champion women’s issues.

Mrs. Clinton won about 17 million votes in her presidential primary campaign, and by all accounts she will emerge on Election Day as a respected force in the eyes of not only her allies but also of people around Mr. Obama, for whom she has raised several million dollars and done more than 75 rallies, fund-raisers, conference calls and other tasks.

...

In the near term — the first year of the next presidential administration — several associates said she would like to be an ally of the White House’s next occupant, whoever that is.

For a President Obama, her favorite, Clinton advisers say she might be positioned to be a point person on his proposal for expanding access to health insurance or for his energy plan, two issues that she and Mr. Obama promoted during the primaries.

...

“She has done more for Obama than Dean did in 2004 for Kerry, more than Bradley did for Gore in 2000, more than Kennedy did for Carter in 1980,” said James A. Thurber, the director of the Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies at American University in Washington, D.C. “As much as this must hurt her, she has been the ultimate trooper this fall.”

Bitch.
Deranged.
Unprincipled.
Scorched earth.
Not a real Democrat.
Content to destroy the party.

Anyone heard any mea culpas yet, veiled or otherwise?

Doh!

I thought it was 6am, not 5am, when I wrote this post. Forgot to roll back the time on my alarm clock.

I had no idea I care about politics in the middle of the night.

Hillary would have written it

at 3AM.

Triple touche'

And she would have footnoted it, too.

I was surprised no one blogged on Hillary making it pretty clear that she doesn't see another presidential run in her future:

"In an interview aired Tuesday on "Fox & Friends" on the Fox News Channel, Clinton, D-N.Y., was asked the chances, on a scale of 1 to 10, that she would be the next majority leader in the Senate.

"Oh, probably zero," she said. "I'm not seeking any other position than to be the best senator from New York that I can be."

Being nominated to the Supreme Court?

"Zero," Clinton said. "I have no interest in doing that."

Running for president again?

"Probably close to zero," she said. "There's an old saying: Bloom where you're planted."

Now, everyone says their presidential runs aren't likely, but given all of the factors, this seems pretty straight-foward and realistic.

But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...

HRC: Coy or realistic?

Been wondering about this myself, Damon. I'm not up to the analysis on these quotes, and have been looking for greater wisdom. Why all the zero probabilities from Clinton? Is she being conventionally coy or realistic? Suggestions welcome.

realistic--DNC/Village

have made it clear they'll never allow her to have it, nor give her a fair shot as a candidate. They'd pull another Obama out of thin air to run against her if they had to.

If the leadership allows (and also changes), she's on track to be way better than Teddy in Congress--esp on health and family issues.

She hasn't done ENOUGH

Do try to keep on point, Bo. Heh.

Blood. We require her blood.

Friggin' vampires.

No matter what

the morons said about her, and this definitely includes people on the blogs, they couldn't break her. She's one tough person. They've ended up looking like whiny little fools. No credibility at all.

She's a winner, no matter what happens.

British journalist: American media voted early and often

What Pie said.

Here's a great piece from Saturday by a journalist unfettered by the media narrative, Harold Evans, former editor of the Times and the Sunday Times, author of The American Century:

Mad about The One
The US media have been captivated by Obama, at the expense of their curiosity and scepticism

In this 2008 race, it's the American media that have voted very early and often. They long ago elected the star graduate of Chicago's Democratic machine, Barack Obama.
...
What's troubling to anyone old-fashioned enough to care about standards in journalism is the news coverage in mainstream media. Forget the old notions of objectivity, fairness, thoroughness, and so on.
...
But the press bias towards Obama doesn't represent a simple revulsion for the Republican party. It was on display in the Democratic primaries with the persecution of Hillary Clinton. Worst of all, in the primaries, the press let the Obama campaign get away with continuous insinuations below the radar that the Clintons were race-baiters.
...
The young and affluent liberals have been captivated by Obama's charisma, the unstated notion that electing a black man will be absolution for the years of discrimination and prejudice, and the expectation that Obama's undoubted appeal to the outside world will repair America's image. All understandable, but these emotions have been allowed to swamp the commonplace imperatives of journalism: curiosity and scepticism.

...the American press likes to think of itself as more superior and detached than it actually is. In 2000, the mainstream media did a great deal to elect George Bush by portraying Al Gore as a boastful liar.

It's the Media mash, it's a graveyard smash...

Did we forget bitter? Or is just her holdouts that are bitter?

Ya know, I was never a big proponent of the sexism argument. I was brought up to be tough and to not make excuses when you didn't succeed but I do believe that this whole campaign has proven me wrong. I won't try to put it into words because I'm a lousy writer but Hillary has been kicked around by just about everyone and she sucks it up and uses to energize her work. She's fuc*ing amazing. What a champ. And I still have female relatives, older ones (70+), that just yesterday were saying she's immoral (yeah, I know. WTF.) and she represents old politics. I want to puke.

I love the analysis of whether she'll run again. Just to funny for words. Yeah, she's going to say, I'm saving my money to make another presidential run. Right. I think if Hillary has learned any lesson in this race it's to shut up and move forward.

Blame them not. The Dark Side is strong.

"I still have female relatives, older ones (70+), that just yesterday were saying she’s immoral (yeah, I know. WTF.) and she represents old politics."

Forgive them, Elixir, they know not what they say. The media tidal wave of disinformation was nearly irresistible. The lies repeated over and over by so many... So many media faves of mine agreed in unison; if I were just a little less engaged and skeptical perhaps I might have been swept away with them.

One of many possible upsides to HRC's campaign.

I imagine her relationship/partnership with Bill Clinton has strengthened through this campaign. If I were a politician, I wouldn't want to be running against her anytime soon.
