Good reading! Favorite quote: What could go wrong?
Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.

I'm hoping for change.mebbe 50 cents on the dollar in my pension
Kicking myself for falling for the "hope and change" crap. I knew he was hawkish on Afganistan, but never saw the oversize influence the lobbyists and money-lenders had in his "Temple of trampling people's economic and civil rights". That was an awesome piece of investigative journalism, thanks for the link. Now I will go back to polishing my garden weasel. :-)

Me too
I saw that Obama got support from Golden Sacks early on, but I thought of them as just another special interest group. Bad analytical mistake on my part.

She's always been Republican
she's one of those people we say about politics in Chicago - what do you call a Republican in Chicago? A democrat. Same as Obama. This isn't surprising. This is normal.
Dems have had several Stealth Candidates recently -- wasn't
Bean considered "progressive"?
On Moyer's Journal last night (google it; I can't copy and paste here on Library Land PC's), a community organizer from Chicago, currently focusing on mortgage and general banking problems, said Melissa Bean has been an awful disappointment. As has been Obama....
So, has the Monied Class wanted some social liberalism in their political "friends"? Did they think the Repubs had gone just a tad too fundy and wacky crazy in some areas? Thus, they cultivated and trained such as Bean and Obama?
"Emergent conspiracy"
I think it's best to think of TPTB maintaining a portfolio from which they select given opportunity, and not as linear planners.

portfolio
that strikes me as the best description.
And we can look especially at factions of the "creative class"..
... as seeking to become "curated" as part of the portfolio. Not all, but many.
It's not linear, but opportunistic, and TBTB have the resources to invest without every investment paying off right away. And very much "who you know."
