A blog (from "web blog") is a discussion or informational site consisting of discrete entries ("posts") typically displayed newest first. All Corrente posts are front-paged; there is no up-rate or down-rate process. Corrente posts are almost entirely community moderated. We encourage a clash of ideas, and do not encourage a clash of persons.
If you are the author of this post, see the Edit tab ad Help (and Advanced Help) for detailed documentation.
oh, and did i mention that i had christmas dinner with a bunch of liberals? real liberals, like fdr- and lbj-type liberals.
i think the reason that so many of my friends are in their 80s and 90s is because they actually lived through the great depression and saw the differences that fdr's policies made in their lives and the lives of all those around them. then they lived through the jim crow era and saw the differences that civil rights made in the lives of people they knew. and every single one of them, even the ones who have money, thinks medicare is a godsend.
Well, that's a demographic with some limitations... If we could somehow connect with the 20 year olds, the Obama supporters being a lost cause on grounds of "I've got mine..."
well... i spend the other 364 days spreading the good word [wpa, ccc, government is not like a household, medicare for all, jobs guarantee, gun control, socialized medicine, glass-steagall, free college education, end the wars, mmt, ...] among gun nuts, religious zealots, reagan democrats, tea partiers, libertarians and obama fan club members [of all ages] so i took the day off.
