MoveOn & Ann Coulter endorsements on same day

intranets's picture

Barack Obama earned the endorsement of MoveOn which claims to have 1.7M members in Super Tuesday states.

On the flip side, Coulter thinks Clinton is more conservative than McCain. And also thinks HRC is the most conservative of the two Democratic candidates.

I’m confused by the new GOP rovian desperation. It will be fun to see the inevitable McCain v. Clinton race and see Coulter either eat crow or join the Clinton’08 campaign.

As a member of MoveOn, I feel that the organization does a disservices to both its members and the cause. Members, anyway, are free to vote their own way; the endorsement doesn't change that. If the cause is the support of progressive ideas, why support anyone? It is better to let the Democrats choose a nominee and then support her/him.

MoveOn repeats its mistakes from 2004 and that's a shame.

A SOLAR PLANT?

Wow, yeah, McCain IS way left of Hillary Clinton if he's endorsed at a SOLAR PLANT. Solar plants are a travesty of the left! They're awful in every respectable conservative way, like...

Help me here; I can't think of anything at all that's wrong with solar energy. Either way, travesty. Travesty! Ann Coulter, you have converted me. If it's between McCain and Clinton, I too would support Clinton, just because of the Cthulhu-like evil that is a solar power plant in a way that I can't even begin to describe.

It's a clever move for her all around:

* Helps Romney, in the event that her avowed goal of a "more conservative candidate" has any truth to it (McCain is majorly conservative, and she knows it)
* Makes Hillary look bad to progressives
* Helps make McCain more re-electable ("See, he really is a maverick who's an acceptable pick for Democratic voters")
* Makes herself the story once again

Also, somebody else endorsed HRC yesterday, too. What am I, chopped liberal? And, honestly, I found that endorsement more surprising than the others.

Good reading! Favorite quote: What could go wrong?
Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.
