Josh fobs his deep thoughts off on a friend:
Forgive me if I missed you saying this on [TPM], but there’s any easier way than a structural argument to understand why many Clinton supporters say they’ll vote for McCain instead of Obama: Clinton, whom they support, and, one assumes, trust, has told them to do so. She has made the case that the pecking order, particularly when it comes to CIC, is her, then McCain, and Obama failing the threshold test. She has said the same about judgment and experience. This is a case where considering a structural — to use your word — double move is too clever by half. All you need to do is look at what they’re being told by the Clinton camp to understand the polling numbers.
Yeah, Mark Penn downloads my orders directly from Clinton World Headquarters to my cranial chip.
Apparently, it never occurs to the Marshella that Clinton supporters—and voters—might, er, genuinely support her? That they might be able to make up their own minds based on evidence and reasoning?
And if you’re the reporter TPM’s trying to hire—
Make sure you find out what’s involved in the audition, mkay? Recent history isn’t encouraging….

Josh has had two months to condemn this quote of Obama’s (from an interview with loyal Democratic outlet CBN, no less):
** crickets **
The lambert doth protest too much, methinks.
And yet you never seem to tire of accusing Obama supporters of taking their marching orders from Axelrod.

I have no plans to vote for McCain
But he and his supporters are trying harder to make me feel welcome that Big O and the Obots are.
So far no McCain supporter has insulted me because I support Hillary. Lots of Obots have done that.
Maybe if Obama wants my vote he should stop taking me for granted and should also tell his followers to knock off the hate spewing.
I can do it too
Why Won’t Obama Quit?
good point, myiq2xu--
i’d never vote GOP tho even if the best person on Earth was running on that side—never.
this is interesting—both our candidates really suck and both are lying sacks of shit— http://thepage.time.com/clinton-camp-mem…
—i want Edwards back.
Video of Clinton Supporter Struggling to Break Free!
Nicholas Kristof
is now comparing Hillary Clinton to Nader.
I have two questions (probably rhetorical):
1) Why did Obama become the default candidate and Hillary the spoiler?
2) Why does it hurt for us to know the content of Obama’s character before we anoint him our candidate?
Apologies for off topic.

Ok, so you start off with “Obots” and you end up complaining about “hate spilling”.
And in the middle you explain that it’s all about you and your feelings. Because voting for a guy who wants 100 years war in Iraq and thinks FISA is stupid, has a bunch of neo-con foreign policy advisors, and has the “Dow 35,000” co-author as his economics advisor, is perfectly justified by your hurt feelings.
I get it.
Re: The Lambert Doth Protest Too Much
Oh, not just Lambchop.
“Regarding Obama supporters: Listen, the vast majority of supporters take their cues from their respective candidates. If Obama is truly about hope and change, then why does he inspire so much bullying?”
http://www.correntewire.com/hillarys_dem…
“Mr. Lazio pledged to release his tax returns soon after entering the Senate race in May, but had not done so… his Democratic opponent, Hillary Rodham Clinton, criticized the delay, asking whether he was hiding something.”
Wow, a blast from the past
Who was it who invented “lambchop”? Years ago, some conservative commenter tried that, but couldn’t make it here, and wandered off into the weeds.
Excellent work, and I really have to applause troll ribo for coming up with something, and after working so hard, too.
“Lambchop,” for those who remember the early days of TV, is both feminizing and a sock puppet!
Well done, all. Have a good day, kidz.

Hilarious
Lambert, you had to search back to 60s children’s programming to find some offense in ribonucleic’s comment. How very delicate, how easily bruised!
Hey, dmd76
Two things:
1. You know, at some sites, people get purged. At others, people get banned. Here, you get close reading of texts. I’ll leave to readers to decide who’s right on this.
2. Signed on to The Responsible Plan yet? It’s bigger than both of us.

I'm glad you brought up purging/banning
Because I think it likely that you’ll revoke my commenting privileges at some point. And I do recognize it’s a privilege - the site’s to grant or withhold however it sees fit.
So I simply want to place on the record here while I can what such a banning would say about the kind of place this site has become. The most uncivil I’ve been towards anyone here is to ask them to give their persecution complex the afternoon off. You on the other hand have already called me a “ratfucker” - and I’ve only been here a few days. :-)
So if you do ban me, at least don’t insult the intelligence of those who remain by claiming that it was due to my trollishness. This is one time where you can afford to tell the truth. Just say that Hillary-critical commentary is not welcome here and repeated demonstrations of it are a banning offense.

Thank you for commenting, ribo. Welcome aboard. Sign on to The Responsible Plan, pressure your candidate on Iraq, and post that you did.

Search 60s Childrens Programming?
What are you 12? I was born near the very end of the 60s and even I know who Lambchop was. Unless of course, lambert wasn’t intentionally being feminized, but was instead being called a big hunk of delicious, flavorful meat.
As for the substance, what makes me laugh is that when everyone said that Obama would get Clinton’s voters, but Clinton wouldn’t get his, that was reason to vote for Obama. Now that it appears that Clinton holds onto more voters and does better with McCain, that’s not a reason to support Clinton, it’s just a reason to denigrate her voters (yeah, that’ll win them back). The Obama Rules are amazing, too bad they won’t apply in the general elction versus McCain.
lambert blushes modestly
“big hunk of delicious, flavorful meat.”
LOL!

You Blush Because It's True
Heh.
A couple of interesting posts from Jerome Armstrong on the damage Wright appears to have done not only to Obama, but to Clinton. See - http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/3/26/1636… and http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/3/26/2128…. The Obama drops look much worse than I thought they’d be.
One of the more interesting things about his second post is this paragraph:
They seem determined to keep their place civil, which isn’t surprising since their front pagers disagree on the race themselves.
Finally, from Jerome Armstrong’s colleague, Todd Beeton, could an Obama/Bloomberg ticket be in the works? Obama praised the post-partisanship of the mayor this morning - http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/3/27/1433…. It wasn’t that long ago that this kind of talk would send some of the Blogger Boyz into quite a tizzy. Of course, that was before they adopted the attitude that anything Obama does is automatically good for democrats.
Yeah, I always wondered about the Obama/Bloomberg...
… breakfast, and a post-partisan group hug.
Of course, if Obama would sign on to the Responsible Plan, all bets would be off, but so far as I can tell, he’s never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity to be the transdendant leader he claims to be (FISA; MI/FL revote).

Link?
I only find the AP story. I’m not sure how Obama’s housing + vague gesture on core principles is all that different from Hillary on housing period. 1 = 1 + 0.
Both are inadequate; the real issue is the shadow financial sector, socializing the losses from investment banks who are supposed to be in the business of managing risk, and holding the execs accountable. Neither candidate is addressing that, which is why they’re both fucking Centrists.

Obama's Plan Sounds an Awful Lot Like Hillary's
Only Hillary’s was released earlier this week, including support for Frank/Dodd legislation. See http://polstate.com/?p=5339. Which has the Clinton campaign once again complaining that Obama is copying his policy proposals from other candidates, his even includes a stimulus package for the same amount as hers. See http://www.talkleft.com/story/2008/3/27/…
Of course, this is not the first time that Obama has followed the policy path set by other candidates. See http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/edwa…, http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con…, http://facts.hillaryhub.com/archive/?id=…, http://facts.hillaryhub.com/archive/?id=…, and, of course, Mr. Krugman, http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/14/opinio….
Don't be too dejected Lambert
Obama made a policy speech. He put forth his some economic policy outlines today in New York:
Barack Obama on the Recession
He endorsed the Dodd-Frank plan to stem forclosures and proposed some measures to combat predatory lending practices.
He also outlined his objectives for regulating the financial markets:
Instead of rehashing all the bullet points, I’ll let you read for yourself. Consider Obama officially on the record calling for sweeping regulation of financial institutions to prevent the types of meltdowns that we have seen of late.
