RALLY – Put your FEET ON THE STREET
Saturday, May 30 12 - 2 p.m.
Capitol Building (Maine State House) in AugustaIf you care about health care, you'll be there.
A committee has been formed to organize a RALLY to take place at the Maine State House in Augusta on Saturday, May 30 from 12 noon to 2 pm. The committee includes individuals and organizations like the Maine State Nurses Assoc./CNA/NNOC, Maine AFL-CIO, Maine Peoples Alliance and Maine Healthcare Reform.
The Maine Rally is being conducted in conjunction with the Nation-Wide Day of Action being sponsored by the Leadership Conference for Guaranteed Health Care, to allow people to put their "FEET ON THE STREET" to demonstrate their support for "National Healthcare, For Everyone -- For Life!" (a/k/a, Single Payer Healthcare, HR 676). A National Healthcare system is the plan supported by over 60% of Americans (CBS Poll, 2009), as opposed to the plans being presented by President Obama and the U.S. Congress to make it MANDATORY for everyone to purchase expensive For-Profit Private Health Insurance.

Sorry
Saturday, in what is close enough to the summer that we're open. For a lot of us in Maine, where tourism is our largest source of economic activity, taking the day is just not an option. That's true for me, and I am sure that I am not alone. I know that a letter to the Maine delegation does not have the force of a picture of a crowd in Augusta, but we make hay while the sun shines.
I understand
we all do what we can.
