I'm seeing the effects of long-term malnutrition in children lately in the ER here...poor immune system function, high levels of serious respiratory ilnesses, serious MRSA skin infections, bad lab values..it is criminal to subject the smallest and most innocent citizens of this country to such deprivation. I cannot give holiday gifts this year in all conscience. so I told my fam, give to the local soup kitchen, and don't expect anything from me. But this is admittedly a stopgap measure. Just as "the healthcare crisis" wasn't a crisis until it moved into the ex-middle class, so this new wave of hunger is now grabbing attention nationwide. But the underpinings of the dysfunction are the same..just magnified by the recent results of our horrible political landscape. And then FIGHT LIKE HELL for better representation so that we can bring those snivelling, spineless, greedy, heartless congresscritters to heel!
