Glenn's got the documentary goods on thuggish Obama administration threats to protect torturers by stopping intelligence sharing with the UK if the British courts disclose the facts of Binyam Mohamed's torture. As Glenn said:
Just think how despicable that threat is: if your court describes the torture to which one of your residents was subjected while in U.S. custody, we will withhold information from you that could enable you to break up terrorist plots aimed at your citizens.
I'll let the British courts have the last word:
Yeah, well, that was their mistake, wasn't it? Stupid gits.Indeed, we did not consider that a democracy governed by the rule of law would expect a court in another democracy to suppress a summary of the evidence contained in reports by its own officials or officials of another State where evidence was relevant to allegations of torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, politically embarassing though it might be.
Plus ça "change," plus c'est la même chose ...
