Part the First. Xan notes:
Hamilton and Baker are backed by a 40-person media team operating out of a public relations firm and a hot-selling paperback edition of their report.Their dawn-to-dark parade of interviews, in which they always appear as a pair to underscore their bipartisanship, will culminate with a run of the Sunday morning talk shows.
“We’ve been spinning like a top,†Baker said Thursday, ushered into a paneled conference room with 14 news reporters at Edelman, a Chicago-based public relations firm that has detailed 40 members of its 200-person Washington office to manage the media blitz.
Question: How’s that working out, media team? Can you make people not see the egg on your face, as Bush essentially has told you and every one of your members in the chatter rooms, “I don’t give a shit?”
Link The Third. Lying, cheating, incompetent. Lying, cheating, incompetent. They lie, they cheat, and they are incompetent.
What I’m getting at here is related to this discussion, and this one. Let’s all try to remember that the Chimp is actually pretty stupid, in a sly and nasty kind of way, and that his minions in the end, are pretty clumsy and not the evil masterminds we often believe them to be.
Some ideas:
-Baker’s Little Court of media fluffers proves that even when they have money, media time, and access…they can’t make the impossible possible. Iraq is fucked, and no amount of Bush massaging (Pere or Chimp) will change that. And hey! Americans understand this point! Even while the Gang of 500 still eats the shit and calls it bacon.
-Bush is an autocrat. What’s funniest about this is that so many of his sycophants are only just now realizing what that really means. Whoops, I guess sucking off drunken frat boys who believe they can do no wrong is not really the best way to guarantee a future of wealth and indolence. Bush understands, if his handlers don’t: that’s only for him. Everyone else, yes, everyone, gets to pay for it.
-They just aren’t that smart. It’s time for progressives to embrace that. The links in this post are (again, more, part of an endless set of) examples of how our Wise Leadership is really made up of clueless, incompetent, believe their own bullshit types who deflate after the slightest prick of the needle of reality. It’s only that they surround themselves with courtiers and hos that they can continue on in a bubble of “significance” and “authority.”
Just some late night posting, because last night I ate a whole plate of fried potatoes, fell asleep waaaay too early, and find myself mostly alone on the early morning/late night intertubes. This is one of those times when I’m really glad I have a blog, and all of you…
