ABC's John Berman, Ursula Fahy, Matt Jaffe and Sunlen Miller :
At the onset, Obama disappointed the crowd – telling them that his wife would not be speaking today.
""Michelle decided she wasn’t going to speak today. She just wanted to sit there and look cute. That’s okay," he joked (much to Michelle’s dismay?), "It’s okay with me!"
Later – when an audience member fainted and Obama stopped his remarks to toss a bottle of water into he crowd his wife helped and similarly threw her water bottle into the crowd as well.
"Oh Michelle you got an arm too?" Obama snidely ribbed his wife….. perhaps not setting up the Senator well for his upcoming 16th wedding anniversary celebration on Friday.
No, really.
You know me -- Mr. Diplomacy!

That report's from September 28th, isn't it?
picked up at Political Radar?

Yes
I missed it at the time. A problem?

No, I was just curious how come it got here so late. N/T

The CBS version is much shorter, too ... seems to spin Biden
as a positive influence on Obama.
Any word on what happened to the person who fainted?

From that CBS link
Feistiness?!
Pardon me while I vomit.
Well, this may prove the misogyny goes beyond the politics
but Biden's not been so dismissive.
He is a widower, though. Perhaps that altered his perspective?
There's a nastiness toward women in much of "popular culture" and "humor" that we need to re-think, IMHO. Obama's remarks toward his wife would be an example in the story above.

sorta
i definitely agree with you on the culture-wide misogyny, we need to fix that.
otoh, in the early days of the primary campaign, michelle was often quoted ragging on her husband for not picking up his dirty socks [and possibly making some other 'wifey' comments, but i can't remember for sure]. i've often wondered if they were unconsciously falling into stereotypical gender roles, or if it's a deliberate game with them.
Definitive proof Barack Obama hates women!
As if any further proof were necessary:
Lambert's repeated calls for Obama to denounce his minions' hurtful, sexist comments about Hillary on blog comment threads have gone unanswered for months.
Some thought this was a sin of omission, that the all-knowing, all-powerful Obamessiah merely neglected to correct his disciples.
But no, the rank misogyny comes straight from the top! It must be part of the volunteer training.
How it rankles! How could anyone vote for such a woman-hater and thereby endorse his woman-hating supporters? All policy issues are clearly irrelevant at this point.
Thank you for highlighting this precious nugget of information. And without comment! It's the Zen of Snark.
Shovel?
Or, perhaps, pitchfork?

Hate?
You got hate (def: Intense animosity or dislike; An object of detestation) from this?
Deliberate game
At least on her end of things. It's always been my opinion that Michelle was trying to humanize him from the minute they entered the race knowing their obvious external obstacles, but that she overcompensated. Early on in 2007 she went on what I called the "He's Just a Man" tour, which was one of the first things that put me off because it's very creation comes from the assumption that he's something more than that. You know, the whole "he's so messy" schtick she went on about his socks on the floor and pants on the doorknob.
On his end of things, though, it appears to me that it's totally unconscious. The "Sweetie" thing was just the biggest revelation of that.
Wrong Shystee
Re this:
Lambert's repeated call has been to the minion's to answer. The question is/was this:
If you aren't a minion, feel less need to answer.
But instead of attacking the messenger in order to ignore (excuse? obfuscate? redirect from?) what was pointed out, you might find it worthwhile examining/explaining why in the hell Obama keeps on saying this dismissive shit towards women. And it is seemingly ALL women, not just Hillary, not just reporters ("sweeties"), but also his own wife.
The patriarchy, it burns.

I can't believe he said that about Michelle--seriously cannot
believe a man in public life these days would make such a statement. Yikes.
And during a campaign pols usually kinds watch what they say! Ought to be an interesting 4 years....
