Here's the Republican talking point in the Jena 6 hearings today:

The senior Republican on the panel, Lamar Smith of Texas, said, "more than anything what we need is an effort to reduce racial tension... What we do not need is_{MR SUBLIMINAL Uppity nigras} stoking racial resentment."

It's not "tension" that's the problem; it's the racism that produces the "tension."

At the heart of the Jena 6 case is a simple demand: the criminal justice system should work in the same way for everybody[--even the assholes].

Why is that so hard for some people to understand and respect?
