Obama
got exactly what he wanted. The final bill was almost identical to the bill he first put out, which the House had improved, then the Senate with Republican cover, put it back to being basically Obama's bill. The idea that Obama would have done a better bill if he had realized Republicans were nasty strikes me as naive.
