Obama lashes out at Clinton

It was a startling twist Sunday to the three-day controversy that erupted after the publication of comments the Illinois senator made at a [private, closed to the press] San Francisco fundraiser a week earlier. At that event, Obama said some working-class voters* are bitter over their economic circumstances and "cling to guns and religion" as a result.

So, despite the usual press blackout, and an awesome haka from the Boiz, AP actually reports the story. Amazing. (This happened not least because Obama just had to go on the attack about it, and start insulting Hillary again, instead of just doing that above-the-fray thing he does so well, and letting it die. That's encouraging.)

Just to consolidate, again, all the information into one place, let's get the voter reaction from the lady from Florida. She gets it.

He said what he said…

He said bitter people cling to God and guns, and don’t like people that [don’t] look like them.

That is what he said, and he said it in an environment where he was seeking money, and he meant what he said when he said it and I do not accept his apology or his explanation.

And it's not the "bitter," it's the "cling to." Sheesh, working people "cling to" religion, but Barry gets to have all sorts of complex and nuanced reasons to sit in the pews and listen to his pastor? I don't think so.
