Did Obama shed a tear when he shoved old people under the bus?

Times:

The White House says the president’s plan would cut spending by $1.22 trillion over 10 years, compared with $1.2 trillion in cuts from the Republicans’ initial offer. Of that, $800 billion is cuts to programs, and $122 billion comes from adopting a new measure of inflation that slows the growth of government benefits, especially Social Security. The White House is also counting on $290 billion in savings from lower interest costs on a reduced national debt.

In other words, the administration is jiggering the numbers to "trade" my deferred compensation for tax increases on the 1% they'll just get their accountants to evade anyhow. What kind of "trade" is it when I get to eat catfood and some rich fuck decides not to buy that Hermès yacht cover he[s been coveting?

With talk of SS cuts, no one is paying much attention to Obama's $400B of offered Medicare cuts. I wonder what those are about.

Remember this lie from just a couple months back?

"Hey, by the way, let's talk about Social Security," Biden said after a diner at The Coffee Break Cafe in Stuart, VA expressed his relief that the Obama campaign wasn't talking about changing the popular entitlement program.

"Number one, I guarantee you, flat guarantee you, there will be no changes in Social Security," Biden said, per a pool report. "I flat guarantee you."

At the time, a lot of us here noticed that Obama wouldn't repeat the promise.  Though who'd have believed him if he had?
